  1. Hahahaha awesome. How can you claim a Canadian if Quebec is part of it? One thing whats with these contests in Canada excluding Quebec all the time?
  2. It would have be an interesting project. Plus I think Federation CJA has a small museum in the building for the holocaust, thats if I am not mistaken. Thing is, maybe if it was more near the Golden Square Mile it would have worked, but thats just me.
  3. 10oz (silver bar) Shipping: $9.76 Administration Fee: $18.88 Taxes: $1.26 One thing I am surprised the tax is so low. I was expecting normal sales taxes. Time to look into a good old fashion safe.

I saw one last year, sticking his head out of a passing car on Mont Royal E barking at everyone.

    Quartier Concordia

Montreal turning slowly away from what Berlin reminds me of, a cold city (because of all the concrete buildings)
  6. (Courtesy of The Globe and Mail) I have a feeling many women will be happy with this news.
  7. Nice to know the city wants to fast track this project. I do hope they try and save part of the exterior of what is left.
  8. I hope Phase 2 does happen. It looks like a really nice project.

I wish them the best of luck. It be a miracle if they make it to the Stanley Cup
  10. I am going a tad off topic here, but I would love to see manufacturing come back to the city. I am tired of seeing stuff made in India, Bangladesh, China and other places. I know its due to cost. I remember going to see Denis Gagnon bio pic a month ago. I didn't stay after the bio, there was a small panel talk about how manufacturing jobs have tumbled since it went over seas. I have the numbers for New York City though (I need to find them). I should post online this documentary on the New York apparel industry which is called Schmatta - Rags to Riches to Rags. Info Schmatta - Rags to Riches to Rags 1965 - 95% of American Clothing (Made in USA) 1975 - 80% of American Clothing (Made in USA) 1985 - 70% of American Clothing (Made in USA) 1995 - 50% of American Clothing (Made in USA) 2009 - 5% of American Clothing (Made in USA) 1 American job = 40 Indian jobs (thats what they said in the documentary) As of 2008 the Fashion industry in the US spent $290B on advertising just in the US alone. Cost Sheet There is one manufacture in Montreal that has been around for many years. I forgot what their name is, I will have to ask my father, seeing he has done business with them. They do a lot of manufactured suits for some big names in the US. (Courtesy of Ville de Montréal) Fashion City Thats a link from the city of Montreal
  11. They pretty much are extremely different. SMM is pretty much the close knit community from Montreal, which is nice but it doesn't really help. SMM does have designers from outside of Quebec show every season (seeing they ask them to come), which is good but they aren't as open as Toronto. Plus one of my teachers kept telling my class, Canada only needs one city for a fashion shows. Seeing many magazine editors and designers are running around the globe to different cities like London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo and New York for shows. Plus now adding Toronto to the mix and trying to get Montreal in there also, its just a headache for everyone.
  12. One of the reasons people like Toronto Fashion Week over Montreal Fashion Week is partly due to the language. Seeing buyers from outside the country and also from within do not know how to speak french adequately. So its hard for them to work with certain designers, that are trying to sell their collections. Plus if you want to be more known you go to Toronto. SMM is a good thing to start off with, if your a new designer but its quite expensive for most. Seeing its about $7000 for one runway show and you need to get your own models and make up artist if I remember correctly. Which is decent compared to Toronto or New York (which could go up to a $1m) Luckily I am going to be sitting on a panel, trying to start a new fashion week in Montreal for the smaller designers and also some known designers from Montreal that show in Toronto / NY to get the press from those Fashion Weeks to come. I am also trying to get a buyer or two from Topshop UK/US to come, seeing one of the designers that suppose to show does business with them.

    Montreal, Expos'd

Sort of hard to like a team that would lose every game, but thats just me. Plus the Olympic stadium was to big of a venue. They needed a place that could hold like 100 people lol
