  1. My solution: have the government cut their losses and give the entire thing away to Prevel for condos. If anyone deserves a free lunch, a company that has done wonders to various parts of this city surely is.
  2. That website is an excellent initiative. Lasalle is starting to take after Saint-Laurent and with the added addition of the water, Angrignon Park and the proximity to downtown it is almost sure to be a hit.

2020 William is just east of rue Canning. The borders of Griffintown 10 years from now will likely be clearly defined as anything south of Notre Dame and east of Canning and should the Horizon Mill site be bought over and developed it will probably be considered everything south of Notre Dame and east of Georges-Vanier.
  4. I think this will see the light of day. As soon as Canderel finds a tenant for the 14th floor of tower 2 (full floor available), I am pretty sure they will be much more aggressive in getting the third phase built. They're only other project on the table is Philip's Square which isn't likely to break ground for years considering its sheer size. (With large office and condo projects much closer to fruition, I'm skeptical of when they'll be able to break ground no matter what the final makeup of the project). That being said it tips things in PCE Phase 3's favour.
  5. I like the project and even the height. (Although I'd probably go up to 15 or 16 floors for the last building). It will make for a good transition between the Quartier Internationale and the Cite Multimedia area. Now someone just needs to develop the parking lots in between Saint-Maurice and William.
  6. Some of this is still possible. A lot of the land still isn't accounted for and Devimco is still a part of the District Griffin project. It's a pity the public was never witness to these months ago when they surely could have swayed some naysayers.
  7. Kind of helps that the Sochaczevski's own the Suburban. Who ever was behind that article clearly knows who signs their paycheck; unless of course the article was actually written by a Sochaczevski.
  8. If they can personalize the gondola experience to be uniquely Montréalaise both in the design of the gondolas (whether more canoe-like or otherwise) and in the design of the gondolieres' uniform, I think we have a winning idea on our hands (so long as it is feasible).
  9. We'll have to agree to disagree. I live in the area half the week and think that anything higher than 8 stories would ruin the vibe entirely. On another note, TOD doesn't have to mean building high. If buildings are erected in a way that they don't impede on creating density on nearby lots you can go quite dense without going very high. Paris is a great example.
  10. Yuck! I think there are many neighbourhoods with metro stations, this being one of them, where a 15 story building would stick out like a soar thumb. A perfect but extreme example is the disgusting looking 25ish story building a few blocks away corner Earnscliffe. High-rises have their places, but not in a neighbourhood like that.
  11. For me it's the Canadian Pacific Railway Station at Parc. While it was built 15 years later, the building reminds me a lot of the Summerhill CPR station in Toronto. I can only hope it will eventually have the same impact on the surrounding area in Parc-Extension that Summerhill station did for the Summerhill neighbourhood of Toronto.
  12. While the building is far from being the nicest thing I have ever seen, it is certainly nicer than the buildings that exist there now (at least the larger of the two). And there are a number of vacant spaces on the street, that could certainly act as fitting replacements for the businesses that will have to relocate (a few of which could have used a renovation as it is). This project is far from perfect, but it's by no means the end of the world in terms of its impact on Queen Mary.
  13. Bonne nouvelle: 1.
  14. Not everything can be a masterpiece, especially when you want to be affordable to buyers while still remaining profitable to investors/developers. As well, people's feelings on Lachine Canal architecture tend to be rather subjective when one considers how often the same design will yield both very positive and very negative feedback from different individuals.
