    I think the price of the 40D should be on par with the 30D at its release, I believe around 1500$. I have been shooting stuff for about 5-6 years now, and I learnt all on my own

    you can't get wrong with a Canon 30D, maybe if you wait long enough, the 40D will be out. I have an extra flash for sell, its the Canon 550EX.

    our growth rate is at 2.9%, toronto at 3.0% very comparable. But thats only speculation. Its the new emerging cities that are going up fast, none of the north american cities can compare with.

    Village olympique: El-Ad présente un projet plus vert Éric Clément La Presse Cité Nature, la nouvelle version du projet résidentiel du promoteur El-Ad situé derrière les pyramides olympiques, est moins ambitieuse (1400 logements au lieu de 2000) et plus respectueuse de l'environnement, a appris La Presse. En avril dernier, le conseil d'arrondissement de Rosemont-La Petite Patrie avait rejeté l'accord de principe donné par le précédent conseil au promoteur El-Ad. Le projet situé entre les pyramides et le golf municipal du parc Maisonneuve ne respectait pas un certain nombre de critères définis à cause du caractère exceptionnel de ce secteur de Montréal. Le promoteur n'avait pas apprécié ce changement de cap, mais, finalement, il a fait contre mauvaise fortune bon coeur et a modifié son projet qui, selon les documents obtenus par La Presse, ne prévoit plus de constructions au bord de la rue Sherbrooke et respecte la hauteur maximale de 14 étages. Il n'y a plus d'empiétement sur des terrains municipaux, notamment sur le golf ou son champ de pratique et le massif de conifères est préservé. La densité du projet, qui s'adresse surtout à une clientèle de familles et de personnes âgées, a aussi été réduite : le nombre de logements est passé de 2000 à 1400. Cité Nature est composée de huit immeubles résidentiels ayant de 117 à 211 logements en location ou en copropriété, selon la tendance du marché. Cinq bâtiments de 10 à 14 étages, contenant les 943 logements du quartier Est de l'ensemble, sont d'abord prévus derrière les pyramides, du côté du boulevard de l'Assomption et du terrain d'entraînement du golf. Trois autres bâtiments (de 9, 13 et 14 étages), d'un total de 457 logements pour le quartier Ouest, seront construits sur le stationnement situé derrière les pyramides, du côté de la rue Viau. Différents aménagements paysagers autour et sur les bâtiments sont prévus afin d'offrir beaucoup de verdure aux résidants, qui pourront encore jouir du massif de conifères qui demeurera entre les deux quartiers de Cité Nature. Les promoteurs veulent ajouter 146 arbres sur les lieux, mais devront en couper une vingtaine. Un stationnement souterrain de trois étages sera construit pour les résidants du nouveau projet et pour ceux des pyramides qui auront perdu leur place à cause de la construction d'un des bâtiments. Le promoteur prévoit que la construction des huit bâtiments se fera sur une période variant de six à huit ans. Elle pourrait débuter à la fin de l'année si les autorisations de l'arrondissement sont obtenues. Le projet est-il conforme au règlement de zonage et aux critères du Programme d'implantation et d'intégration architecturale (PIIA) de l'arrondissement? Le maire André Lavallée ne le sait pas. «L'entreprise El-Ad m'a informé qu'elle présentera un projet entièrement conforme, mais ce projet n'a pas encore été formellement déposé à l'arrondissement, donc je ne peux pas prétendre à sa conformité», dit-il. Toutefois, El-Ad a fait discrètement deux réunions publiques pour prendre le pouls des résidants du quartier, auparavant très récalcitrants. Gilles Beaudry, qui s'était opposé au précédent projet, se dit agréablement surpris. «Les architectes ont réellement fait un bon travail avec un projet qui s'intègre bien avec le village olympique, dit-il. Ils respectent tout ce qu'on avait demandé.»

    Montreal left out Has Prime Minister Stephen Harper forgotten Montreal? Yesterday, Toronto Mayor David Miller and Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay held a news conference downtown to unveil a proposal for a transit strategy put out by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. In it, Canadian mayors are asking the federal government for $2 billion a year to set up a national transit strategy. That’s about half of what the mayors really need, but they have to start somewhere. Great idea. Affordable and accessible public transportation means more people will leave their cars at home, instead of driving into the city to work. Municipalities are now paying too large a slice of the public transportation pie, and according to Tremblay, all the resulting extra traffic is costing us money — to the tune of $800 million a year. The mayors, during their press conference, admitted it was too early for the March 19 federal budget to reflect their demands. They decided the transit funding issue would be a good carrot at the end of the next federal election campaign stick. Imagine their surprise, then, when Harper come out the next day and announced that half the amount requested by the Canadian mayors is going to Toronto. According to CTV.ca, the Harper government will inject $1 billion into improving the transit system in the Greater Toronto area that will go toward, among other things, building six new stations along the Spadina subway line. Doing so, said Harper, will reduce air pollution and improve the gridlock on that city’s highways. Well, that’s a good start, but what about Montreal and the rest of Canada? Is Harper playing favourites? Maybe the mayors’ federal election campaign intuition was right on — sort of. Harper should give serious consideration to upping the federal contribution across the board. Make public transport more affordable and accessible to all Canadians. Right now, the feds contribute only eight percent to public transportation, while the provinces kick in 38 percent. The rest comes from the municipalities. If Harper cares about the

    J'ai été impressionné par les constructions sur la 40 dans l'ouest l'autre jour, et les buildings sont pas laids du tout! la 13 est entrain de se remplir aussi un peu partout sur sa longueur, il y a une grosse structure qui monte de 4 étages sur le bord est de la 13, et une autre structure très grande qui apparait comme etre un mega entrepot de pneus yokohama sur la 440/13

Construction is about to begin on the first phase of a 60,000-square-foot building that will be built along the Trans-Canada highway, across from rival Merck Frosst's large research complex. The Schering-Plough building could be expanded in a second phase in a couple of years, officials told The Canadian Press on Tuesday. Company president and general manager Carlos Dourado will officially unveil the project at a news conference Wednesday. The structure will occupy a portion of vacant land under a long-term lease with the property's owner, Broccolini Construction, said Guy Filiatrault, director of urban planning and business services for the town of Kirkland, Que. Town officials are finalizing a building permit for the new building, which is expected to be completed this fall, he said in an interview. Quebec Economic Minister Raymond Bachand, Native Affairs Minister Geoffrey Kelley and Kirkland Mayor John Meaney are expected to participate. Schering-Plough Canada, which employs more than 850 people across the country, is part of a New Jersey-based global company that develops prescription drugs as well as consumer and animal health products. It wasn't immediately clear how many workers will be transferred from other Schering-Plough Canada operations, including its existing headquarters in nearby Pointe Claire. Schering-Plough Canada operates a manufacturing plant in Pointe Claire, where more than 400 employees help produce 300 million tablets annually for domestic and international markets. In 2000, Schering-Plough Canada invested $25 million to modernize its manufacturing plant and expand the nearby warehouse. The project. built by Broccolini Construction, also included construction of an 86,000 square-foot, distribution centre in Kirkland. It serves the Canadian retail market and exports products to sister companies of Schering-Plough in the US, Europe and Asia. It processes 120,000 product orders annually, said the company's website. In January, Montreal-based pharma company Warnex Inc. (TSX: WNX) said it will develop new pharmacogenetic assays – used to predict a patient's response to drugs – and operate a central laboratory for several of Schering-Plough Canada's clinical studies. The Canadian company's parent, Schering-Plough Corp. (NYSE: SGP), recently reported its fourth-quarter profits surged 75 per cent as strong sales of cholesterol, arthritis and allergy medicines offset rising research and marketing spending. The company's sales include revenue from a joint venture with Merck & Co. on cholesterol drugs.

    On parle ici du projet Bleury / De Maisonneuve, donc si je comprends bien, le projet est peut-être sur un terrain futur de la place des festivals, et qu'ils vont réviser la hauteur permise...ca regarde mal ça...
