  1. it seems like such a waste to have a STM, STL, RTL .. duplication of services for no reason transit should be managed at the metropolitan level, with only one transit body to coordinate everything
  2. that would be neat.. montreal could have an american suburb in plattsburgh, people could take the train back and forth every day
  3. beat me to it by one minute!
  4. Next stop, Windsor Station ANDY RIGA GAZETTE TRANSPORTATION REPORTER (...)
  5. been there, done that.. Montreal needs to stop living in the past and wanting to re-live its glory days... time to aspire for something new

    Quartier Concordia

the area is gonna be really nice when all the work is done! tunnel bonus! (sry bad image quality)
  7. theres some neat pictures of the vespasiennes at Place D'Armes on page 49.. lucky photographer who got to go down there. I'd imagine the facilities at Philips Square would be in similar condition http://www.vieux.montreal.qc.ca/placedarmes/2/pdf/cha_090615.pdf
  8. I hope this bumbaru guy doesn't google himself too often.. he might discover that he doesn't have many fans!!

those are blocked off because the 8th floor is mostly computer labs, I guess to block off the sunlight.. condemning those windows is dumb though

I'd donate money to Concordia should they ever decide to reclad the Hall building... PLEASEEEEEEEEE it's hideous
  11. Because language laws attack english, which is part Montreal's history. The focus on making everything unilingual masks reality. I am not against the protection of the french language, and considering Quebec's position within North America, it *must* be protected - but as far as I'm concerned, the only law should be that French is required everywhere (in terms of signage). If a shop keeper wants to add English, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, etc in order to increase business that should be his choice .. none of this predominant crap
  12. a péquiste running the city of Montreal? I think that's a terrible idea. She'll spend most of her time making sure store signs are in French instead of promoting and developing the city's economy. I can't imagine she'd be a fan of talking about the bilingual population here in Montreal, not to mention she has expressed questionable statements regarding the city's immigrant groups.
  13. looks very 1960's boxy.. monotonous design this probably doesn't mean anything, but I noticed they fenced off the sidewalk on lambert-closse, where the building should be built
  14. I certainly hope not, as the area is essentially a shithole as it stands now, populated by bums and drunk inuit, not to mention the decrepit state of Sainte-Catherine street bringing in students (and their disposable income) would definitely help out the area!

    Autoroute 35

it's about bloody time! .. that farm road between iberville and philipsburg is always a pain to drive through.. best poutine in quebec can be found along that road though! .. chez ti-polo!
  16. I hope it's cancelled .. 110m is a bloody shame for that lot .. we can do much better

Yeah, they dug up Guy street last summer to put in the tunnel between the EV building and JMSB .. there are preliminary plans to link up the EV building to the library, which itself is already connected to the Hall building. Once this is done, Concordia students theoretically will never have to go outside! (I will be long graduated by the time this happens though) I always find it strange to have a class in the Faubourg basement, since I remember seeing Jurassic Park there as a kid, and now having to sit in class in the same area!
  18. I noticed while walking by today that there were some construction workers on site, cordoning off an area around the bens building .. perhaps preparing its demolition?
  19. I walk by there every day, I'll be sure to post as soon as I see any activity on the site

  21. great news! i'm excited for this project. it may not be the tallest, but it will definitely add some extra density to the area
  22. ^^ it would be great if they decided to re-clad/renovate le chatel, that brown monstrosity at Guy/Maisonneuve
  23. Thanks for sharing that report, very interesting! Any ideas what Place du Spectrum is? Is that the supposed Best Buy near MusiquePlus ?
