  2. the base is very mies-esque .. kind of like the condo towers on Nun's island or Westmount Square
  3. I'm a little skeptical .. after being dissapointed so many times!! but as it was mentioned above, I strongly suggest mtlurb people be present when the public consultations take place, we'll need a strong voice against the NIMBY-ism that will surely want to counter this project
  4. I think a 25-30 storey mixed-use tower would be quite fitting for the area
  5. Shaughnessy Village pretty much covers the Concordia Ghetto area between Atwater, Guy, Sherbrooke and Rene-Levesque .. I could imagine the area continued to the south before the ville-marie was built. you can still see the remnants of this in all the old houses tucked in between all the commie-block towers
  6. 'de la Montagne' is not accurate though, because it associates the name of the street with Mount Royal when in fact Mountain street, as it was known originally, was named after McGill University's first principle George Jehoshaphat Mountain.. not an English vs. French thing at all btw
  7. It's a great location! .. I hope they don't throw any 5 storey building there, it would be such a waste of prime real-estate .. perfect for a transit oriented project
  8. I'm very pessimistic at the whole idea .. but at the same time, these ideas don't just come out of nowhere, do they ?
  9. another interesting tidbit .. concordia is planning to build its student centre across the street on de maisonneuve on the parking lot next to tim hortons and a tunnel is to be built connecting it to the metro station and eventually a link will be built toward the hall building, making most of the downtown campus accesible to the metro system
