  1. Sign at the front is sort of new. Says "opening 2015"
  2. Is that really what Laval looks like around Montmorency metro station these days? Wow. Last time I was there, years ago, it was just endless parking lots.
  3. Read my post again; look at the google street view from this summer. They poked out a bunch of windows. I'll check out the site again on Monday to see if anything else changed.
  4. Thanks Steve. Sort of unrelated but 1980 Sherbrooke West next door has been undergoing a lot of renovations, especially at night (??) with demolition crews coming in once or twice a week for the past couple months. Earlier this morning, a Mammoet was on site to lift some stuff on top of the building. I wouldn't be surprised if 1980 Sherbrooke will undergo a recladding inside and outside as its next door neighbor renews itself.
  5. Nah I don't think Timmies are ever in danger. They just expand. Pekarna on the other hand...
  6. Thanks Vauxhall. The area has been a lot friendlier now that the teens are gone. I think the new residents will soon find that the old bums are nothing to worry about. In fact many of them can be quite endearing. It's the rich-looking kids they need to look out for. They can be hard to avoid when they occupy the entire sidewalk length. PS WTF does it mean when they scream "wesh-wesh" at one another?
  7. I could take a picture right now but it's rainy outside. They're on the 7th floor (or 6th if you consider 1F=GF)
  8. Actually, the new Starbucks has a LOT of personality. We were quite impressed when we walked by it last night.
  9. PJC (jean coutu) is opening up corner Bleury / Sherbrooke, where a Videotron used to be. Great for the area and all upcoming residents.
  10. I didn't know!! Thanks Frank! Why don't they just make them appropriately tall in the first place?
  11. quick question: what are they gonna do with the crane? can they lift it up?
  12. Already posted. Congrats on your condo?
  13. Coolopolis has an entertaining article about Hotel de la Montagne.
  14. DEMEX tearing down the back wall brick-by-brick, starting from the top. If you want to say goodbye to that old "STATIONNEMENT" painting, I'd say you have about a day or two!
  15. I personally spend all of my money in the Shaughnessy Village. Everything I need is between Guy and Atwater. But I always make a point to walk up and down Park Ave + St-Laurent Blvd a few times every summer. monctezuma has your answer. I would think another factor is that there is a much larger student population around St-Laurent than 30-40 years ago. They just don't spend the same way. Also being a small entrepeneur businessman seems taboo these days, which would explain the extended downtime between shops.
