  1. There's a new crane truck on site, the tower crane is coming down today.
  2. Steve, have you been to Place Alexis Nihon recently? Target will be ginormous. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the Forum, it's still a dump. This will give you more info about Alexis Nihon's original tenants (read the comments): http://coolopolis.blogspot.ca/2007/08/alexis-nihon-plaza-1969-belgian.html In related news, 8-10 million $ investment to revamp the existing Alexis Nihon IGA! Serious business!!!
  3. Look up two posts from yours.....................
  4. As far as the area is concerned, there's this building at Closse and Lincoln which has been vacant for years. http://goo.gl/maps/WhKGz Then there's of course the gas station at Closse / Sainte-Catherine which is a total eyesore. http://goo.gl/maps/t7w5q How about converting this beauty at 1800 rene-levesque too? http://goo.gl/maps/nlIgk The Shaughnessy Village Association is pushing hard for the lot to be converted into something for families. Souvenir St residents also aren't too hot on the condo towers idea because there would be an access on their street as well, which will bring in tons of traffic. I'm just saying it won't go down without a fight.
  5. Truckers using Valleyfield as shortcut to Highway 30
  6. I know you're being sarcastic but watch it --- you'll give me a heart attack As for the Globe, why not? empty out the first 10 floors and do something crazy in there.
  7. I was gonna ask; is it just me or is the Unity crane not moving all day long?
  8. While we're daydreaming, taking over Holt Renfrew would bring MBABM two blocks away from RESO... and Concordia could do their part... Good idea about the MAC though.
  9. Just a thought -- with Holt Renfrew supposedly moving into the new Ogilvy complex, couldn't MBABM expand eastward as well? How about occupying part of 1350 Sherbrooke (that "globe" building) which seems empty anyway?
  10. Talking about an actual baseball / soccer / skating rink type of park. Hector-Toe-Blake park is quite popular with kids during the day.
  11. Apparently this has been public since February. This should really be turned into a park.
  12. I'm pleasantly surprised. Not bad at all.
  13. I share your two cents. I would have been happy with preserved facades. Completely torn down is a huge shame. .... speaking of Hall building, any chance for a recladding?
  14. Not a party pooper. I'm not impressed with the new building AND getting rid of our beauties. I'm a terrible leader and I wouldn't even know where to start. If anyone's organizing anything, anywhere, I'll be there. Just make sure to call the cops first because I don't want a P6 ticket on my ass.
  15. B-b-but we have a thread for that building
  16. Seems to be http://www.clofts.ca/ now. Construction site was quite active this morning.

  18. Two men were the victims of a hit-and-run last night in front of this building. At first I assumed they were jaywalking, but it turns out they were trying to get around 1486's construction site. To be perfectly fair, there are signs on both sides that say "trottoir barre", but still. I wonder if we'll have more similar accidents when all of the Bell Centre condo towers go up at the same time.
