  1. Only a month in service , the latest high speed line (TGV Est) in France from Paris to Strasbourg/Stuttgart/Frankfurt and Zurich transported already more than 1.000.000 passengers... The TGV composition is going to be changed early september : 2 TGV instead one!!
  2. I am glad it never got built , it would have been an icon of the famous Drapeau era where everything was huge but very expensive

  4. I never heard a negative comment about this city and believe me everyone around here knows the city. Saying the word Montréal brings good news to people imo, its always followed by a wow , what a city. It is certainly one of the most popular city trips here in Belgium

In France the works have begun for a new line from Montbard to Mulhouse connecting 2 existing TGV-lines (Sud-Est : Paris - Lyon/PACA & LGV-Est : Paris/Allemagne) : projet Rhin/Rhône The Rhine-Rhone high-speed line consists of three branches: the Eastern branch, the Western branch and the Southern branch. The whole Rhine-Rhone high-speed project may be likened to a three-pronged star: - the Eastern branch, between the Dijon (Genlis) and Mulhouse (Lutterbach) urban areas, with 190 km of new line. - the Western branch, from the Western end of the Eastern branch towards Paris via Dijon. - the Southern branch, from the junction of the two other branches towards Lyon.   13. You can improve public transportation as good as you can but the government has no right to say that people need to use public transportation. People are allowed to do what they want after all the government is fully responsable for the lack of investing in a decent network. I know saying this with a European view is easy but let's not forget that , for example a city like Basel never had the idea of suspending their tram network which does exist since ... 1881 and always was a great succes. Other cities like Karlsruhe (Germany) reinvented public transportation since the 80's with a unbelievable succes and a still growing network. Why you may ask: on this network both trains and trams use the same gauge. Even huge metropolitan areas like London and Paris rediscovered trams... Paris is acting foolishly cause the lack they had in not extending their metro network seems to be compensated by new tramway lines but they are forgetting that business areas must be in reach easy and fast any time. Imagine that both Canary Wharf and La Défense are not connected to the fast railway network they are so proud of... @ MTLskyline: Saying that you don't need new lines is wrong imo. When you want to improve your network you need to extend it from time to time cause cities do grow in all directions. Comparing MTL with LDN is rather absurd cause London is much densier populated.
  14. Very interesting but why is there no plan that covers the entire metropolitan area ? I am very curious about the extension proposed for the south shore and what do I see on page 33 : a direct line from Longueuil to Laval...gets confusing for me. As "jesseps" points out very clearly : the railroad connection from the airport to the city in 20' is extremely slow.This project should be U/C for a long time by now. I would love to have a paper copy of this plan, should I contact the city or would somebody of you guys be so nice to send me one please?

Visited this city last weekend: A known view to start with Pollux and a demolished neighbour Opernturm construction site from above canyon street reflektion of the Commerzbank in Galileo Police squad on the twins of the Deutsche Bank from 0 to 259m... street level entrance of Galileo a lot of contrasts here MainPlaza in evening sun glow Schiller and the MainTower walk-in-the-park roof near the Roßmarkt unkown by many : Frankfurter Welle no comment needed here I like this high rise art in a local bookshop Sand castle 2 worldpowers... density 'made in Frankfurt' Skyper MainTriangle with new low rises Sachsenhausen ...let me show you the way to the next whisky bar... hope you enjoyed it
  16. this is indeed a nice project but more identity to the 4 different blocks would have been better imo
