  1. Disagreed. I think it was quite classy in the '70s. In fact you can tell they are going back to their roots with this "new" style.
  2. Big-time destruction happening right now. Huge clouds of dust. Very loud!!! Wouldn't want to be a Phenix resident today.
  3. I figured I would start a thread dedicated to Place Alexis-Nihon, since it's undergoing significant renovations. You may think this is all cosmetic but they will be introducing significant measures to improve accessibility. Target is to open Fall 2013 fall and I was told the 8 million dollars IGA expansion is scheduled for January 2014. The food court will be completely remodeled in Summer 2014.
  4. Agreed. No worries. It's clearly just a render intended for investors. I thought it'd be interesting to share here. Their site has a French version and it's called "Foire Urbaine", whatever that means.
  5. I wonder if they're going to keep it a blind wall or open it up with some windows.
  6. As you can see from the following pictures, this handsome 1950 building (mostly known for its Mourelatos) has cleaned graffitis, new doorway, kicked out the shady dance school. I would bet this will be student residences / apartments, but they might have to get it rezoned? July 22nd 2013: Summer 2012:
  7. Under heavy renovation at the moment. They are adding new street-level locations despite 75% availability (only the SAQ remains) and the Stylexchange failure. Will they shake off the cockroach stigma? This next picture shows flooring being put on top of the old bagel place. New Taiwanese place where Grumman used to be
  8. New food court to open at 1486 Ste-Catherine (in front of Concordia). Apparently seating capacity is 300???
  9. Interesting: new food court to open at street-level of both 1486 and 1481 (formerly Reebok store). Faubourg must be shaking in its cockroach-infested shorts!
  10. awhatup KU-RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYNE! (new crane!)
  11. This is absolutely a piece of Montreal history getting torn down. It's not the greatest one, it's not even all that meaningful. But when I think about our vanished neighborhoods due to the 720, Radio Canada or various HLM projects, I can't help but think we're making the same mistake. "At least" we'll have the rest of the street... sigh. When the hell is Concordia going to DO something about the Bishop Court apartments? I'll say it again: They should just wait until Holt Renfrew moves and then occupy the entire building.
  12. That went up... fast? Any commercial space at ground level?
  13. Beautiful old building. Good job on its integration. Those white walls are going to get vandalized seconds after the new owners move in.
  14. They knock it up a notch every other week. Bam!
  15. Not sure where to put this, but the Loews hotel renovation is COMPLETE. Looks decent in person.
