David: je veux bien croire qu'il y a d'autres dépenses et que celles-ci s'accumulent, mais bordel, jusqu'à 90,000,000$?! Pour du papier et des chaises?! Je sais que je fais le "chialeux" en ce moment, mais je trouve ce montant excessif considérant que des études pour des projets de taille similaire se font ailleurs pour beaucoup moins. Bref... j'aimerais connaitre la répartition des fonds.. un peu de transparance aiderait beaucoup à calmer mes doutes!

Refaire Sainte-Catherine dans le cadre du Quartier des Spectacles c'est noble et positif. Mais refaire Saint-Laurent dans le même contexte c'est terrible et nuisible?

So they can find NINETY MILLION DOLLARS to create some schematics but they can't find the money to actually build the thing? I'm an architect and urban planner.. and i do entire designs detailed to the last millimeter for entire projects in a month's time... how on earth can it possibly cost 90$million and 2 years to design 3 metro stations? Paging OursNoir, paging OursNoir! Are we right or wrong about this? I don't mind being wrong if you can reassure me that not a penny of those funds would be wasted!

Christ... it's like we spend X millions on feasibility studies, then X millions on public consultations and analysis, then X more millions to come up with plans, then finally the actual cost of construction is 10% of what the entire project price tag was.

Ummm... 90 million dollars for creating the plans? Let's say this step takes a whole year.. nah let's be generous.. two full years to do. How many engineers are required to create these plans? Let's be generous and assume a team of 20 people. Those 20 engineers would be paid 2.25$million per year salary?! Okay, 100 engineers... at 450,000$?! 45 million dollars per year is enough to pay 80,000$ for over 550 engineers! Bottom line: this seems kind of ridiculous. Does it really take that many people that many man-hours paid at extremely generous wages to come up with the plans? I know this is complicated stuff, but it isn't that complicated..

Pas vraiment. On parle de travaux sur une longueur de seulement 350m (entre R-L et Maisonneuve) Entre Sainte-Catherine et R-L nous avons l'ilot abandonné au sud et pas grand chose d'intérêt au nord, excepté peut-être Club Soda. Entre Sainte-Catherine et Maisonneuve, il n'y a pas grand chose non plus. Quelques commerces vacants, le métro Saint-Laurent et quelques stationnements.

I have to admit i'm a little weary of public investment in sports arenas. In the context of Olympic games, i'd support federal involvement as a matter of national pride and significant economic advantages. However, we don't even know if the NHL itself will be returning to Quebec City, let alone any major events like the Olympics. It's a somewhat risky venture. If the NHL's return were a shoe-in, i'd be more favorable, but as it is, i don't much like the idea of federal dollars financing a potential white elephant. For now, i guess i'll remain on the fence on this one.

We do indeed have a lot of small and medium projects. Also, our new constructions are fairly scattered around throughout the city. However, if you take every 3-storey+ building going up right now and put them all together, it would be enough to fill at least a dozen city blocks.

Six étages c'est bien à cet endroit! Le rendu me semble "ok". Je vais attendre voir un rendu complet, mais pour l'instant ça me semble bien. En passant, six étages c'est trop pour le sous-forum "Petits projets". Ce projet mérite d'être dans le forum régulier "En Construction"

Les "tours" Saint-Charles à Longueuil devaient subir une extension verticale... c'était la nouvelle en 2008 en tout cas. Je ne sais pas si c'est toujours prévu!

Ce projet se situe sur l'ancien emplacement de les Tours du Boisé - phase II. Il semblerait que la phase II est morte et ce projet prendra sa place. I'll take the 9 stories over the parking lot any day. It doesn't bother me. When all vacant lots are occupied, a new process will begin : that of demolishing older shorter buildings and building newer taller ones instead. In NYC there are very few vacant lots, so they're forced to tear down 20 storey buildings in order to build 80 storey buildings instead. It's already happening to some extent. Look at Triomphe and Altoria.

Ayant eu nombreux débats sur ce sujet, je peux vous dire qu'il est peu probable que quelqu'un ici change son avis. Malek aime les autos, il faut respecter ça. D'autres n'aiment pas l'auto, il faut respecter ça aussi. Ce débat est "hopeless", comme celui de la souveraineté. On a tous nos opinions.. c'est difficile de les changer. Moi pour ma part, je me retrouve entre les deux - j'aime et j'utilise tous les moyens de transport : vélo pour l'exercise, à pied pour prendre ça relax et regarder, bus/métro pour aller travailler/étudier, auto pour aller voir ma blonde et sortir hors région.
