si j'étais toi j'enverrais ta version du 2-22 à la ville de Montréal!! C'est vraimetn 10 fois mieux que la version de Paul Andreu !!!

 

si j'avais les plans, je pourrais soumettre une autre idée, mais avec les rendus, même sur photoshop, c'est assez difficile.

 

à qui je devrais m'adresser?

 

je pense qu'avec les propositions actuelles, et sans remettre en question l'essentiel des projets actuels, il y a moyen de gosser sur le design pour le rendre très très intéressant.

2-22 developers defend vision

Gateway to arts district doesn't wow everyone

Developers of the new gateway building to the city's entertainment district defended their vision last night amid concerns from residents it won't fit in to the neighbourhood.

 

The Société de développement Angus presented its vision for a seven-storey building on the southeast corner of St. Laurent Blvd. and Ste. Catherine St. to the Office de consultation publique de Montréal last night at a public information session held at the Holiday Inn Select in Chinatown.

 

The $16.5-million building would be called 2-22, representing the civic addresses on Ste. Catherine St. East it would occupy.

 

Angus, a non-profit corporation, bought the plot of land a year ago, after the city expropriated it. The city has provided a $5-million grant on the condition the building have a mostly cultural vocation. It would house many of the city's cultural groups, including CIBL Radio-Montréal and the Société de Musique contemporaine du Québec. Plans call for a glass façade fronting Ste. Catherine and a green roof with a rooftop bar. Construction is planned for 2010.

 

But last night's presentation seemed to rub several of the 50 or so residents who attended the session the wrong way.

 

"Is there a way to better integrate this building into its surroundings?" downtown resident Jacques Larin asked. "I know that the façade on St. Laurent plans to be built out of Montreal stone so it fits in with its surroundings, but what about the façade on Ste. Catherine, which is just a wall of glass?"

 

"We're better off with a green park, than a glass tower as is," said John Zoumboulakis, the owner of Café Cléopâtre, a showbar on St. Laurent, north of René Levesque Blvd.

 

Philippe Lamarre, a spokesperson for Angus, responded that since this will be an entrance for the city's Quartier des Spectacles, it must stand out as a destination for people to visit.

 

"This is not Club Soda, it's not a building like any other in this area, but it's a statement of a given time," he said.

 

Christian Yaccarini, the president of Angus, said the building will bring back some much-needed life to the area.

 

"If you take a walk in the area, it's completely dead."

 

This was the first of three weeks of consultation by the OCPM on two area projects.

 

Angus has also bought the land on the southwest corner, and plans to build a 15-storey office tower with shops and restaurants, planned for 2012 called the Quadrilatère St. Laurent. Consultation on that project begins tonight. The social impacts of both projects will be discussed at a Thursday meeting.

 

Next Monday and Tuesday, the architectural concepts and urban integration plans for both buildings will be presented. The public is invited to submit briefs and give opinions on the project on June 8 for 2-22 and June 9 for the Quadrilatère St. Laurent. All meetings start at 7 p.m. and will be held at Holiday Inn Select, in Chinatown, at the corner of Viger Ave. and St. Urbain St. More information on the projects is available at http://www.ocpm.qc.ca

Tant qu'à moi, plus je le regarde, plus je me dis que autant le wall of stone que le wall of glass m'impressionnent pas vraiment.

 

Je pense que je m'attendais juste à plus avec l'embauche d'un "starchitecte".

Ouais ben l'interieur est tout de meme impressionnant!

Ben moi j,aime bien la facade vitrée, ca donne un allure un peu plus grandiose, comme l'immeuble de la caisse de dépot et de placement.

Moi j'aime beaucoup le projet tel qu'il est. Ce n'est pas l'idéal, et comme JFrosty, je m'attendais à quelque chose de plus grandiose de la part d'un starchitecte. Mais tout de même, le résultat final me plaît beaucoup, tant la façade en vitre que celle à moitié en pierre. Et comme Gilbert, je trouve l'intérieur tout particulièrement spectaculaire!

 

Attendez de voir le projet lumière qui sera associé au building! Ça risque de donner quelque chose de très intéressant!

Lorsque j'ai appris aux consultations publiques que le célèbre architecte français, Paul Andreu était partenaire avec aedifica, je ne pouvais pas y croire, putain ! Ce gars là, a dessiné Paris CDG, le nouvel opéra de Pékin , l'Arche de la Défense à Paris et plus encore ... et on se retrouve à mtl avec le 2-22 et le Quadrilatère St-Laurent ! Il me semble que l'architecture n'est passé assez recherché !
