  1. The base for the second crane is in the southwest corner of the development. It is there to aide in the construction of the first 11 floors of the podium and will likely then be removed.
  2. Don't celebrate too soon folks. This needs to go through endless consultation first, at least minor 4 protests and a good amount of OCPM modification.
  3. I may have missed it but have the phases really been joined by skywalks as seen in the video?
  4. In a word: laid! If it wasn't for the few touches of colour, this would look right at home in the Moscow suburbs back in the 80s. The design is boring, shows an utter lack of imagination and is sinfully ugly.
  5. Typical Globe and Mail trite. Suck readers in with a controversial title and then fail to mention anything really negative about the subject.
  6. It will. See above for the almost final rendering....though I wish it wasn't black and white?
  7. Did you see the reflection in the top of the rendering? I hope that isn't what the building itself looks like....
  8. LOL! Fat chance for that...I don't even think this project was covered by the APCHA.
  9. Check out Page 16. It shows all of the upcoming projects with their associated heights. I find it odd that Griffintown is left out though... And the reductions detailed later in the document are absolutely ridiculous considering the age we live in.
  10. 2012 will be the Year of the Grey and Black Building.... They haven't even been built yet and I'm already tired of the architecture.
  11. SKYMTL

    Évolo 1 - 31 étages (2013)

Is that really Evolo? The primary extension floor slab thickness looks too thin for a high rise building.
  12. Well, the new Casavant will only be installed in 2012 - 2013 so we have a little wait ahead of us to see it "in the flesh".
  13. I believe that's a soil sampling machine. Looks like they want to see what's under these buildings before demolition starts.
  14. As if we didn't see that coming from a mile away... Those promoters were as shady as they come and yet idiots still bought units from them.
  15. 70%...pffft. It's because real estate agents are snapping them up to flip for a profit. $100 says we'll see at least 100-200 listings suddenly hit the MLS about a month before completion. My buddy had the fifteenth ticket and lo and behold, a good 40% of the units were already listed as "reserved". Makes me wonder when the real estate board will ever wise up to this practice by their accredited agents.
  16. Wow, looks NOTHING like in the renderings. I wonder, can the city fine them for not sticking to what was submitted for permit application? I'd love to see some of these developers get nailed for misrepresenting their god-awful looking projects.
  17. If Altoria is having issues with NIMBYs, the same people would have a field day if someone proposed 35-40 office floors right down the street...
  18. No, we live in Quebec.... My grandfather died due to the lack of quick transportation between the airport and Montreal area hospitals so this subject really, really pisses me off.
  19. From a recent interview with John Vanderslice: What are some of the new hotel openings where we might soon see The Luxury Manifesto themes being put into practice? Vanderslice: In 2011, we will be opening the Waldorf Astoria Sevilla at La Boticaria. It is a 133-room property sits in 40 acres of private land and offers a truly authentic Andalusian experience, with a private equestrian facility. We just opened the new Waldorf Astoria Shanghai, we will be opening the Waldorf Berlin and the Waldorf Panamera in Panama in late 2011 also. In the next years will are slated to open the Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem, Beijing and Montreal. As for the Conrad in 2011, we are opening the Conrad Koh Sumai in Thailand, The Conrad Algarve in Portugal, the Conrad in New York and in Dubai. We have fifteen more Conrad projects slated to open in the coming two years.
  20. Wow, totally deceiving. Hence why "smart" promoters (like the ones for Rouge) show night time renderings....
  21. There's also one in Laval off of the 440 / 15 intersection at the Artopex building.
  22. God, the gall of these people! Passers-by will be too busy watching out of potholes to take notice of any "grand entrance" in to Montreal. What a waste of money.....
  23. Remember, the pictures we see on the MUHC site are just placeholders for the time being as this project is considered a "design-build". Basically; they are designing as they go.
  24. That's because the architectural firm working on it is Beique, Legault, Thuot. Address will be ~634 Saint Jacques. I believe it is about 3-4 doors down from the Quebecor building.
