  1. Actually, there are quite a few points I whole-heartedly agree with. Especially the point about Montreal having absolutely no cohesive development strategy.
  2. I drive by these every day. It is an improvement above what was there but the new buildings are absolutely hideous.
  3. I can almost promise you that won't happen. Altitude would have been a perfect option for a high building but they went with 33+24 instead of a single 57 floor building. As it stands, both buildings will be blocking the views from one another on the first 24 floors so to me it is quite obvious that developers don't have confidence that a higher tower is economically viable let alone acceptable to the NIMBY mentality that permeates this city.
  4. Passed by today. Looks like they are prepping temporary foundations for three more cranes.
  5. Four cranes for less that HALF the site! By the time this thing starts rolling, we could see 10-12 cranes methinks! As for the rendering, if you take a look at the Shriner's site rendering I think that will reflect the final MUHC design more than the current design. Remember, the members of the staff have stated this hospital is in the design-build phase which means the overall design isn't quite determined yet.
  6. It actually seems between two condo buildings. I don't think they would have a crane that massive there for renos; that's at least a 10 ton rated crane.
  7. Has anyone seen that about a kilometer east of the Glen site there is another tower crane? Which project is that for? Another MUHC building?
  8. Not sure if this was mention but the architects are Brian Burrows and Nicholas Pichouron of the Architex Group. You will likely see some of the same elements between this building and the new Bell Campus.
  9. When all is said and done, there should be 5-7 cranes on the site. I also came across an interesting article the other day. I don't know if it has already been posted: Article link: http://dcnonl.com/article/id41560 I can't wait for actual renderings....
  10. Second crane is being set up tonight. They have also installed what looks like a small temporary apartment complex for the workers.
  11. What are those twin towers on Sherbrooke street? W+A Hotel?
  12. First crane went up this morning. I believe they are driving piles for three more.
  13. Unfortunately, I can't mention who I work for but I do work hand in hand with several of Canada's largest property / leasing managers in addition to running a "small" computer-oriented website.
  14. Considering there aren't any heritage buildings as far as the eye can see around this site, he can't really say anything...
  15. Drilling into an adjacent building is likely to reinforce it against the foundation shocks which can occur when driving heavy piles into the ground nearby. I can also confirm that the buzz in the leasing community is saying 40-45 floors for at least two projects in downtown Montreal which will be starting in the next 4 months. However, I can't confirm whether this is one of them.
  16. Don't count you chickens before they're hatched. I'll play devil's advocate and say that we know SOMETHING is going up but we don't know WHAT it will be nor how many floors.
