  1. For once I totally and completely agree with Harel. Hallelujah! AMEN!
  2. Heh, replace "Moscow" with "Montreal" and we'll feel right at home.
  3. This along with the new multicultural + sports center (the design competition for that one was won a few months ago) will make some seriously great additions to St. Laurent.
  4. A 4 1/2 in Saint Laurent or less than $200,000? Hell yes, that is a good investment.
  5. This is odd to say the least. First part of the tunnel collapses and then a crane falls a few hundred feet away. Coincidence?

I really, really like this one. The use of an existing building as the podium is just....inspired. It brings the whole project to a much more human level.
  7. I'n reasonably sure that picture is still not the final design.
  8. The building on the left actually reminds me quite a bit of the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
  9. There are so many different versions....I wonder which one will be built.
  10. I'd be embarrassed to live in that thing.
  11. Bah. Just the other day it was listed under the "information" section before they added an email link.
  12. Are you sure about that? "BLT" is now listed on their website too.
  13. I'm really impressed by the ballroom above the entrance!
  14. The document you are referring to has many "vision" projects which are just injected due to their possibility of coming to fruition during one decade or another.
  15. Interesting, I heard different. Site is closed until CSST can confirm all of their directives have been fulfilled. Could be a day, could be a month. Minor site prep can continue but full construction has to wait until their sign off.
  16. Is it just me or is there no net to stop falling items from hitting people on the sidewalk?
  17. Very nice! Too bad they couldn't build this along the Met to offset all those communist-era buildings that are going up.
  18. Oy! That's rising FAST. Didn't they make an underground parking space?
  19. Giotar is the seller of the land. However, I do not believe they are the same Italian investment company as the one you are talking about. The Giotar here in Quebec / Montreal seems to use a different logo and supposedly specializes in land transfers / sales. They have also been brought up in several lawsuits involving what looks like shell companies (9143-6329 Québec inc. and 9063-7661 Québec Inc). that act as intermediaries. That doesn't exactly inspire much confidence...
  20. Wow. They need this since their planes look ready to fall out of the sky.
  21. I actually saw the brickwork on Phase 1 going up today. It actually looks better than I originally thought and MUCH better than the renderings look.
  22. Le Mackay to name one and unless my contacts at the city are completely off, its replacement student housing project (which stands at ~26 floors right now) is also mired in red tape at this point. Not to mention the fact that Le Crystal was also supposed to be ~10 floors higher and in the words of the developer to me at their grand opening: "we didn't want to stir the pot any more than necessary". Developers are afraid of our frankly idiotic limitations and projects have suffered because of it. Whether or not this one will come to pass remains to be seen but if we see a 50+ floor residential tower go up in the downtown core in the next 10 years, I'll eat my hat....as long as you guys provide the salt.
  23. Why not? There have been several projects within a few hundred meters of this one that were well within regulations but were kiboshed due to the OCPM sticking their noses where it didn't belong.
