I can confirm this. There were Chinese diplomats there on Tuesday for the unveiling of the refurbished Norman Bethune statue.

 

However, I can't help but feel that they widened the sidewalk on the wrong side of the street. Everyone walks on the sidewalk that's on the side of the Metro, yet the other side of the street got its sidewalk widened instead.

they widened it on the side that made most sense with maisonneuve continuing west of Guy

You're forgetting the other side will be widened as well, and by nearly as much!

OK, so this part is what's left to be done, right? De Maisonneuve will be quite different as a really narrow yet busy street.

don't worry traffic will be crawling way before that turn.

 

Removing a parking lane (watch out for all the double parking), cutting in half "boulevard-two-lanes" Maisonneuve at the place des spectacles won't help traffic speed either.
