I was thinking the same thing. The Quebec immigrant-investor program is very popular.
Oui, tu amènes un bon point. mont royal Posté(e) 24 mai 2016 Partager Posté(e) 24 mai 2016 sounds to me that the logic is: since this is a bad investment, let's dump it off on some poor rich sucker trying to get into Canada. He gets his citizenship, we get our Expos, and it's win-win. I' m not convinced that this is a winning formula; nor am I convinced that it is very ethical. Foreign owner comes in, we win the league!
If it was such a bad investment, why would there be private interests trying to pull it off? It may not be a new Klondike, but I doubt we can call it objectively a "bad investment". It may not be a new Klondike, but I doubt we can call it objectively a "bad investment". It could be a good investment if the investor is knowlegble about the local economic culture, has deep pockets, and is passionate about baseball. That is not the profile of an immigrant investor. To foist this off on someone whose real interest is to buy Canadian citizenship is, in my view, unlikely to result in long term success.
