Horreur subjective.

Its not cheap. Just because it imitates the old building next door does not mean its cheap or will age worse. (see RBC branch on Park Ave recently cleaned up and looks brand new but is really old) To get this "look" you have to use precast concrete exterior (which costs at least double than brick and mortar). The Sun Life building downtown is built in a similar fashion (precast stone) this is the only way to get old world designs (Greek / Roman columns etc) Sometimes it seems like on this forum it if a building is not a modern square glass box it is labelled as cheap or ugly..... diversity is what makes Montreal interesting architecturally (old and new) and when a developer is inspired by the old part of Montreal's identity it should be welcomed, otherwise if we limit our buildings to what is "trending" in 2012 then we would become boring like Toronto and Vancouver where a tall square glass tower is the only thing that goes up in those cities.

Why would anybody want condo towers like Villa Latella in their neighborhood? those towers are cookie cutter ugly ghetto buildings that ruin neighborhoods - no design, no concept, just built for a quick buck.

Ugly buildings, the Village Olympique is much better looking and its a rental..... ELAD veut vendre le Village donc c"est évident que le Projet Cité Nature est seulement pour faire de l'argent et non pas un projet par un promoteur-propriétaire qui cherche à valoriser le secteur.

Fix it up! What kind of LAZY owner is this? The city should take it over and renovate it before we loose all historic buildings to cheap lazy owners that want to take the easy way out.

OMG they demolished this..... for the BMO tower What a shame! -
HORRIBLE! Destroying a historic building for a hospital that could have been built on a VASTE TERRAIN VIDE next to Jacques Cartier Bridge. There is so much empty land near the bridge or downtown (Parking lots) did they really have to spend all this money demolishing all these buildings? I thought they were keeping the tower portion as part of the CHUM? Le CHUM will make this area a huge traffic jam, it will be impossible to drive on Viger when it is built
