  1. I can confirm. The promoter is taking a "wait and see" approach. All developments on this project have been put on hold due to the economic viability of development in a market that's showing all the signs of a hard landing. As of January, their resources have been "refocused" to a new development in Mississauga, near Square One shopping center. From my conversations with people associated with this project, there's no doubt in my mind that the current political situation here played a major roll in this decision.
  2. I would have loved to see a piece of kinetic art put up. Something like what the BMW museum has: http://www.artcom.de/en/projects/project/detail/kinetic-sculpture/ Or Kinetic Rain:
  3. Have you seen the banality of Griffintown lately? Tell me again of these "high standards".....
  4. Right, and that precludes him from making educated insights into the Montreal condo market. Give me a break. He writes for the WSJ which means his credentials have been put through the wringer before being granted the ability to submit a story for publication. And he's bang on.
  5. FYI, the folks on the site were archaeologists according to the guys on site.
  6. According to the sales person I talked to today, it's actually 78%.
  7. I have a crazy fear of heights and living in that would just plain scare the crap outta me....regardless of how many panties it dropped.
  8. Too bad that doesn't include tearing down Les Terrasses Windsor. Go that project is an insult to downtown.
  9. Not sure if this was mentioned but you may have noticed that the dates on the poster show the completion dates of the murals. Faith47 is one of the most famous graffiti artists in South Africa. Looks like this will be the last one before the sales office opens.
  10. Oh. My. God. This may be THE most stunning project in Montreal in the last...well....ever.
  11. Simply put, this project needs to be more Bois Franc and less Griffintown. Every developer should be forced to pay into a Green & Education Fund to help towards the building of schools and parks so the over-burdened facilities in neighboring areas don't buckle under the influx of another 10K residents.
  12. Scrapping the Plan Nord won't help either. But I digress too. From my understanding, the people behind this project are Egyptians who have deep roots here in Montreal.
  13. I'm trying to understand this project. They're building it but their website isn't live and they don't have any sales to speak of....
  14. Personally, I think the latest move by the CMHC will put a nail in the coffin of many of those projects you mentioned. I don't believe the Montreal new-build real estate market can sustain its momentum now that the government-backed mortgage rates will rise by ~0.57%.
  15. This is Montreal. You'd wake up the morning it was installed and someone will have stolen it.
