I think this project will go ahead only if they lease the 11 floors of office space, the condo section isn't exactly breaking sales records with 34 sold according to their web site, nevertheless I give it an 80% chance of being built (beautiful location)

Am I to believe a group like heritage Montreal has the power to reject a 100 million dollar project and the city has to accept their wishes or verdict? who elected these people ? and why can't the city overrule these lunatics especially in the Mackay case

One major question I have on this project is why hasn't there been a press release by the companies involved? plus no info on any web sites and very sketchy details from the city

That area on Rene Levesque needs some serious development especially the Overdale wasteland, but I guess some people in this city prefer parking lots

That lot looks more like a small park so it's not that bad, I prefer to see a project go up on the vacant lot on Rene Levesque and St-Laurent (Chinatown) next

Place du SPECTRUM / Complexe SIDEV - 26 étages (2011)

Personally I'd rather see a quality 5-6 storey building go up on this site than a bargain basement 26 storey eyesore, I don't think Ste-Catherine is a street for highrises, build some kind of multi purpose entertainment complex with a massive danse floor where you would have the partying spill over to the neighboring plaza until sunrise,if your going to build an entertainment district then go all out, no half-ass proposals or projects -
Can someone name a Canadian premier or an American governor who has taken as many foreign trips as Charest? how many times has this fool been to France alone? better still where are all the multi-billion dollar contracts he's signed during those trips? and again guess who's footing the bill for his globetrotting

They should've named a swamp after him it would have been more appropriate, I see Jean is racking up the frequent flyer miles at our expense, one week it's Paris another week it's Mexico you would think this moron is a leader of a country

HA HA when will you people learn that nothing escapes the mighty DINU, if you mess with him he'll smack you with his order of Canada medal

Seems to me he didn't put up much of a fight after getting rejected, didn't the city (I could be totally wrong)allow a scaled down project of 28 floors on this site? if so why isn't he building? again Montreal has a long sad history with multi-stage projects

I wouldn't be too upset over this project being cancelled for the simple reason that it wouldn't have gotten built as planned. Any time a promoter presents a project in stages you can be sure that the more expensive part (the 34 floor tower)would never see the light of day. If this developer ( promoter) was serious about his project he would have moved on to another site (we have no shortage of vacant land in DT Montreal) plus look at this man's track record, what has he ever put up in Montreal?

Does anybody else find it odd that there's suppose to be so much corruption in the construction industry in Quebec, but yet the cost of building highrises is the probably the cheapest in north America (check out the costs in TO and NYC)

I'm guessing the first 11 floors will be used as a hotel the rest of the floors will be made up of rental units like 400 sherbrooke

There's a homeless shelter soup kitchen less than 2 blocks away on De Commune (great location for all the tourists to see)

Photo was taken from the Notre-Dame viaduc which makes it ideal for all the bums and junkies who hang around the area (great for tourism) to break into cars without being noticed, like I stated before just look on the ground if you think I'm joking

A tip to all car owners never ever park your car where this photo was taken, unless you want your windows smashed, think I'm kidding then just look at the ground along the bike path

I've come to the conclusion a long time ago that Bumbaru and his gang of idiots really could care less about saving historical buildings in Montreal, they are on huge ego and power trip getting their fix by seeing how many multi-million projects they can destory, these are truely sick individuals, just look at that grinning moron in that photo need I say more?
