  1. Then I wouldn't mind a project like M9 filling up those huge lots, something has to be done there, they're a real eyesore
  2. And maybe some developer might come up with a major condo project for the 2 massive lots north and south of St-Paul (between Dupire and St-Henri) there's enough space to put up at least 6 condo towers
  3. with Altoria now 36 floors it would be great if Rio Tinto went with the Westcliff project just a block away, the foundation already exist so the building would rise fast
  4. Maybe unlike most buildings that are constructed downtown the cranes will be attached to side of the building as it goes up that's why you need the extra height especially when they reach the 7-8 floor, plus there's no need to jack the cranes up (they seem to do that a lot in Europe)
  5. so what happens to their old buildings (campus) if they move? personally I would take anything Rio Tinto says with a grain of salt, it was sad day for Montreal when these bums took over Alcan
  6. CHUM project stalled? I just read recently that construction should start this June
  7. One of the reasons prices are higher on nun's island is because it's more or less a gated community conveniently located less than 10 minutes from downtown. if you don't live on the island you have no reason being there, I'm willing to bet the island's crime rate is virtually zero
  8. If we're not careful Montreal will turn into Manhattan in a couple of years, 32 floors= jumbo project for this moron, yup them evil tall buildings are the work of the devil I tell you
  9. unfortunately most of the major projects won't have an impact until next year..my predictions...Altitude- will reach ground level at the end of Feb. so if they go about a floor a week it should be 12-14 floors high by mid June, Marriott-they should finish digging in about 2 months (or more) so I would be surprised if they reach ground level maybe 2-3 floors by mid June, Altoria- they should be finishing the demolition of the old buildings, anyone thinks they have better predictions please post them
  10. I could understand the price tag if this was the Sunlife building or the old royal bank building, but an abandoned 10 storey industrial warehouse!!!!! total insanity
  11. The building is going up on Rene Levesque which already has 4 towers of more than 40 storeys ,so I don't see what these idiots would complain about (but I'm sure they can come up with something)
  12. I hate to disagree with everyone but what the hell is the government doing pissing away $75 million on renovating that eyesore of a building ? that monstrosity reminds me of those abondoned sweatshops in mile end, with that kind of money you can build at least 2 major projects in the QDS( including filling the spectrum canyon). Oh isn't the 40 storey Marriott rising a couple of blocks away with a cost of about 70 million
  13. They updated their website, now units located on 11-27 are on sale (which makes a total of 112), of those 46 are sold without including the 11th floor (the website doesn't list the 11th floor for some reason) more importantly the expensive units now seem to be selling fairly well, so I guess in a couple of months this baby should start going up
  14. turn it into public housing and move some of the residents of nearby Jeanne Mance there
  15. I think they're waiting until they reach ground level with the main building (which should be before April) before demolishing Zesto, if you check the photos the Zesto building is only reinforced up to street level (I could be wrong)
  16. thank god they didn't waste that great lot on some crappy 20 storey building, now if only some company would do something about constructing a few towers on RL between Guy and lucien L'Allier, and then maybe a nice 40 storey tower in front of the Bell centre
  17. If they want to talk about visual pollution how about all the ugly graffiti on St-Catherine street? that street has become a disgrace and an embarrassment, next time anyone is downtown check out the top of the old Palace theatre, then go west and look at the incredible mess on top of the buildings between Peel and Stanley(south side). Does anyone working for the city not see this? especially our visually and intellectually challenged mayor
  18. calling that complex boring is being overly flattering, the hotel portion (the hyatt) looks like it was designed by a grade school student, it looks like they chiseled the windows out of a massive concrete slab.
  19. I'm not sure the city is as powerless as many of you seem to believe, if the city chooses to play hardball against this fine establishment they can bring the place to it's knees in a matter of weeks, for starters they can revoke their liquor license with the help of the police department and carry out endless inspections looking for every little violation of the building code( right down where the garbage is placed). If you think it can't be done then look at the recent closing of a strip joint on Ste-Catherine
  20. Always remember we're talking about the same city that allowed the Seville nightmare to drag on for more than 20 years, and continues to do nothing about Viger square, despite the fact this horror show is located 5 minutes from Montreal's most important tourist attraction (old Montreal)
  21. So what is the city and our Bixi mayor doing to resolve this mess?,the answer is nothing
  22. Why doesn't someone (calling Cataclaw) post a photo (photoshop of course) how this building will look from Mt.Royal
  23. According to their web site they have 118 units for sale that sign claims 150 units (talk about disorganized) maybe they added 4 or 5 floors? or redesigned the floors
  24. accouncement making it official with more detailed info on what's going up I would imagine ( nothing to get excited about)
