  1. I don't know about that the CRCHUM site seems to be always busy most saturdays (it was yesterday) anyhow the bad news by the looks of things is that it will be quite a long time before they reach ground level
  2. the worst of the lot are those morons who ride their bikes on sidewalks , I swear if I ever get hit by one of them (man or women) even if I'm injured I'll get up swinging and kicking
  3. maybe they seem to think it's dangerous because they're using explosives, there's warning signs all around the site
  4. According to their website Schedule The deconstruction process, in compliance with LEED accreditation requirements, and demolition have begun and will continue throughout the summer of 2011, with excavation scheduled for August 2011. Then, construction of the 35-storey tower will begin in the spring of 2012 with office occupancy by the end of 2013 and condo occupancy by early 2014.
  5. I saw workers in the abandoned building a couple of weeks ago, so it'll take a year to take down the building and actually start construction, these guys can take it down in about a week http://www.controlled-demolition.com/ check out their videos on you tube
  6. the quartier international is becoming a real world class district, needs more retail, restaurants, clubs to increase foot traffic
  7. What's happening with the nearby Griffintown and Gallerysurlecanal projects and when are they going to start working on the bonaventure redevelopment? all I see is a bunch of pretty pictures and a lot of hot air coming from this area

    Southam Lofts

that's what I would call a horizontal skyscraper, if you stand it on end it would probably be over 35 floors high

    Cinéma Banque Scotia

now all they have to do is produce movies worth watching
  10. Small story in the gazette today mentions that the Overdale lot is being sold, let's hope this finally turns out to be a major project
  11. When demand rises new towers are built, but any major tower takes up to 3 years to complete anything can happen in those 3 years, so whats the logic of playing a waiting game, and what prevents the developers of a new tower from signing tenants from other buildings.
  12. The end of June 2020 is more believable, there's still a good $20 million to be made in studies and reports
  13. The park is a Montreal treasure, but apparently there's certain morons in the city who think it's a dog park, I can't recall ever visiting without seeing at least half a dozen dogs running loose (some of them potentially very dangerous)
  14. It's not a question of doubting their intentions, I along with people much more knowledgeable of the Montreal market have serious questions surrounding this project, remember cheap works in Montreal (Prevel)
  15. Which leads to the question - how well do they know the Montreal market? For starters you can write off the office tower (no demand), then you have the condo towers ,if they try to price them similar to the Toronto market this portion of the project will also go nowhere, at the end I'm afraid we'll end up with a scaled down project something like 2 ugly cheap 23 storey condo towers,of course I hope I'm 100% wrong but with Montreal's sorry history with mega projects I have my doubts (remember the 400 million Viger station project)
  16. Didn't they already sell 72 units which is over $25 million in sales (rough guess),which leaves about 80 more to sell over a period of about 3 years... not an impossible task
  17. the government should raise tuitions $100 dollars every time these protests are held, that will put an end to this stupidity fairly quickly,or better still start expelling students with low grades at the CEGEP level ( it's called academic probation at Mcgill)
  18. considering how bad the team is they should return the old brinks to the people who payed for them, so they can throw at the team whenever they stink up the joint
  19. Wasn't Desjardin looking for a large amount of space recently?
  20. What prevents a developer from poaching tenants from other buildings?
  21. The graffiti problem in Montreal is something that can be overcome if we had a mayor with half a brain. If you want to virtually remove graffiti from our streets you adopt a policy of zero tolerance, hire maybe 10 crews of two men (or women) whose sole function is to remove graffiti 8 hours a day. Have these crews stationed in problems areas like DT ,St.Henri and le Plateau. You'll find that within an year the graffiti punk losers will simply give up after seeing there "art work" washed away in less than 24 hours( remember a can of paint cost about $7 dollars) in addition the city can install surveillance cameras in problem areas and get tough with property owners who don't secure their fire escapes (which allows the punks easy access to rooftops) If you think this policy won't work then I suggest you look at New York's experience with their subway trains which are practically graffiti free (check what they looked like in the 70's and 80's)
  22. That clown is already squawking about saving a building constructed in the 50's, he's a real piece of work
