The lot isn't very large so it's unlikely they could build up to 200 m given the density co-efficient.

Yes, the aesthetic of the skyline is a very real thing. It is obvious that there are millions of regular non-hobbyists who just enjoy a nice skyline. People go through great efforts to travel to areas where they get a nice vantage of cities. Yes, skylines are more than just images on the internet.

At times, the aesthetic is actually designed by city planners. Coincidentally, Montreal has one of the most detailed master plans for a skyline. It defines a desired silhouette with the goal of developing two curves, one viewed from the front and one viewed from the side. It also protects certain view corridors, as well as the prominence of the Mountain in the skyline.

 

This is quite an old perspective of the city skyline. It’s nice to see but it would benefit from an upgrade with the most recent construction?

Many peoples talk about the 120m fence on Rene-Levesque but actually from the Champlain bridge, the - fence - fit quite well the contour of the west side of the mountain without hiding its crest. It look good.

Where the skyline is missing some highrises on the southern part toward Gft. So I would be happy to some other buildings between St-Antoine & Notre-Dame.

But you are right, the general trend is there and offer a good view from about any side coming into town.

Thanks for the answer. Ceci dit, je déteste cette notion de coefficient de densité (comme s'il n'y avait pas déjà assez de contraintes) car en gros ça signifie qu'il n'y aura jamais un seul véritable sliver à Montréal.

Aussi, ils disent qu’il y a 17 maisons de ville, alors que j’en compte seulement 15. J’imagine que ce sont deux maisons supplémentaires qui viendront boucher le trou à l’extrémité est.

Belle image qui démontre bien comment ces maisons sont mal conçus. Il y a énormément de pertes d’espace en raison des nombreux escaliers et de l’étroitesse de chaque unité. De précieux pieds carrés qui ne contribuent en rien au confort et qui sont concrètement inhabitables. Pour mieux faire, il aurait fallu avoir au moins 4’ supplémentaires en largeur. À moins d’être une patience extrême en attentant un ascenseur peu performant, il faut être un athlète pour se déplacer entre les étages 🏃. Pour jeune couple plein d’énergie seulement 😉
