Three things:

1- I'm not sure what a Manhattan building has to do with L'Avenue

2- It's not that new, it was completed in 2008

3- It didn't cost $2B to build; the cost was $950 million, but the total sale value was $2B after selling the 210 units.

I think he was referring to a comment that l'avenue's clientele are too rich and snobby for a Canadian tire. If it works in NYC than it'll pass here.

I'd be much more annoyed to have a Canadian Tire in my building than a Best Buy.

Canadian tire is in serious need of rebranding... The first thought the comes to mind when I think of that company is my grandpa; he used to keep his canadian tire money in the glove compartment of his car.

 

It's not an inherently bad store either... lots of good stuff there.
