I'm looking around the downtown area, trying to find a spot we could build a new stadium.

 

What about this location just over the bridge on Wellignton in the area where the Costco, Loto-Quebec and Cereal Foods Canada are now...

I realize there's no metro, which is the biggest problem, but a station could be implemented into the stadium basement, making it ready for a possible future expansion. It could also be a valid expansion for the metro to accomidate the development in Griffintown. A tram could be setup to go along Peel/University, down along Wellington to serve Griffintown and over to the stadium to accomidate in the meantime.

 

The other issue would be expropriating the existing enterprises which are there. Mostly wherehouses which shouldn't be too big a deal. But the big plus, this is a location close to downtown, with a great view of the city, river and mountain, which could be a great place for a ballpark.

 

Can anyone tell me if this area is already slated for development? Would this be an impossible task to get rid of the company's already in the area?

That area belongs to the Port of Montreal. It has docks and its head offices nearby. No-Go.

The google maps link pointed to the wrong area. I was thinking more the area bounded by Wellington/Mill/Bridge....perhaps demolishing the costco. Still a no-go area?

It used to be Port territory but Canada reclaimed that land a few years ago. Costco and the company Alstrom have leases that extend to 2030 If I remember correctly. It wold be nice to develop that area. I hope!

On en avait déjà parlé ailleurs. Ce stade serait de très petite capacité et ne pourrait pas servir pour les ligues majeures. Malheureusement.

Le best pour un stade MLB serait au Bassin Pell , au même endroit où Loto Québec voulait construire son nouveau Casino

Je comprends que cette stade, qui est proposé, serait pas assez gros.

 

MON QUESTION, c'est si le terrain est disponible et si il pourrait étre utilisé?
