  1. That puts us with either Friday the 1st (if we count today) or Saturday the 2nd of March. What project begins on a Friday or Saturday?
  2. Wow! What a week! 120 metres with 39 floors? That's 3.07 metres per floor... seems a bit low if we compare it to every other project currently proposed or under construction. Is it possible it could be higher?
  3. This project was always expected for completion in 2014. Things will go quicker now
  4. Roccabella must be doing it just to get a jump on everyone else. First to start construction (first to deliver a completed tower) looks very attractive to new buyers, right?
  5. Something is going on with the site. A re-vamp perhaps? New renderings? http://www.roccabella.ca/
  6. I went along President Kennedy tonight, and it is stunning. It is so visible from Place des Festivals and it still has more to go! The curves the building has too, are just amazing.
  7. +9,700 jobs in a province of 3.7 million versus +5,000 in a province of 8 million! There is no way you can say that Quebec was the champion of job creation in January . Mayyyybe 2nd (if it was a lot of part time creations in Saskatchewan) or 3rd place. It's still good news though! 8. We did great compared to Ontario and BC, but 'Champion'? http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/21-900-jobs-lost-in-january-but-unemployment-rate-drops-to-7-per-cent-1.1148375
  9. As I said a few weeks ago, looks like Monday, March 4 is the start date (25 days away)
  10. As soon as someone argues the whole "how can one be taller than the other with less floors" stuff, remember Altitude is 124m with 33 floors and Hilton Garden Inn is 118m-119m with 38 floors. The floor heights in the base of Icone could be huge, and the average ceiling level in the condos could be 3.7 metres high. Altitude's are 3.75 metres on average. Cite sources, give us facts, and maybe we'll start believing what is clearly just an opinion.
  11. Greater Montreal grew by 283,826 people from May 2010 to July 2012? That doesn't sound right. If that's true, we grew faster than Toronto... which didn't happen.
  12. Although it is very obviously Montreal, it's been labelled as an unidentified American city in the film. It made $8.1 million Friday, tracking toward a $20 million opening weekend, which is excellent for this type of film. A success!
  13. The view from the Radio-Canada/CBC building has to be the best view of the city. You can see how much more Le V needs to go, before it's on par with the Telus tower (both about 136m).

Bud Selig retires at the end of the 2014 season. Fingers crossed!
  15. At 45 days til construction, that puts us around Monday, March 4, 2013.
  16. Also, I don't think anyone mentioned it, but they say 45 days before construction now. It was higher before, right?
  17. For the third year in a row, and the 7th overall, Canada was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language category, for Rebelle. Monsieur Lazhar was nominated in 2011 and Incendies was nominated in 2010. It has no shot at winning though, Austria's Amour will take the Oscar (Amour was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Picture) Still, Quebec cinema is on fire! http://blogs.montrealgazette.com/2013/01/10/rebelle-nabs-oscar-nomination-for-best-foreign-language-film/
  18. One thing I can say about it, the top is definitely unlike anything else we have in this city.
