  1. A typical street sign in Washington no doubt
  2. This is a unified team and the only dudes that are not with the program are the Kostitsyn brothers. Camalleri was awesome!! Gomez and Gionta etc etc... Gorges and Gill...wow, I'm impressed. The playoffs are simply another season with te game being elevated another notch! The Bell centre will be rocking!!
  3. Well....I guess the Gainey signings other than Mara have put on quite a show and very impressed with Moore. He has deceptive speed, great defensively and has some nifty moves and a great shot. That was a great signing and he speaks french!! What an added bonus. Gionta was incredible, Gorges (Future Captain ????) and Hal Gill were extraordinary...above and beyond the call of duty. Halak was always in position and saw the puck very well. When you're in a groove you want as many shots directed to you as possible because they are as big as grapefruits. Bergeron had a key goal...I guess we'll see him on spot duty (Powerplay). PK Subban got caught in a rush but had the speed to come back. I just loved the way that our forwards came back and backchecked. That put a smile in my face. Bring on the Penguins and Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Letang, Gonchar and company... We've won one battle but not the war... There's still alot of hockey left but I really do like the groove this team is in.
  4. Interesting, the Habs have called up PK Subban on what is a do or die game. Why not? It's a long time coming. He could easily fill in Spacek's shoes. I hope he plays over 20 minutes tonight if he is playing at all.
  5. Agreed, but the Bruins have the best goalie at this point in time in Rask! He's stopping everything. Not only that, but the Bruins are hitting the crap out of the Sabres. I've seen some vicious hits laid out by the Bruins. They get it!! They know what it takes to win. The Habs are too passive and are keen with the loss. Nobody other than Price showed emotion. Gionta could only do so much. We're too small!!! We need size and grittier players. Players who play with an edge. The Caps are toying with the Habs. It looked like the Caps weren't even trying in the early goings of the hockey game. They can open up the machine at will against the Habs and they did. Look at Green the other day, talking about the Habs saying that they have no one on this team that scares them... No shit!!!! I would have instructed my players to concentrate on Green, pound him every shift, let him pay the price for his comments...but nothing because that's not coach Martin's style + we simply can not back it up.
  6. You mean trade Halak! Halak doesn't have it in him. Come play-offs he's only a shell of what he was during the season...and by the way Halak has 1 win in his last 6 or 7 starts and looks incredibly average. IN the play-offs you need a goalie with moxie, a fire within himself if you will and Halak in my humble opinion does not exude these qualities. He's a great guy in the dressing room, never complaining etc etc you need a character guy. Look at Roy, you think he was quiet in the dressing room, he was as vocal, volatile and arrogant in the room and he backed it up. He had his walkman on singing to tunes while preparing for a match! I believe Price has those qualities. Granted, the penalties Price took were stupid but at least he showed some emotion and he was pissed. What did the other players do? Absolutely nothing. Case in point, we know we're going down and loose the game putting us 1 game to 3 at least show some emotion at the end of the game, mix it up a little bit show the caps that the next game will not be a cake walk. Yesterdays highlight for me was Moore. Not only did he score a high lite goal of the series and perhaps the playoffs but he played hard until the end. Here's the reality of the matter, We're old, We're soft and We're small! We need to toughen up, get beefier and grittier. I can tell you this had PK Subban been in the line-up, he'd be the habs best player and probably had a scrap or two because he gets it, you need to get down and dirty to win. Take the hit to make the big plays etc etc..
  7. Ahhhh, the sight of cranes filling our skyline is euphoric! More, more...
  8. Your wound up a little too tight Habfanman, I love Montreal, this is my city and I do toot Montreal's horn as loud and as far as I can but at least when there is a city or cities that do promote their city better I give them credit.
  9. You hit the nail on the head Habfan...the Montreal D kept backing up which if you take a look at the game film in game 1 and half the game in game 2 you will notice a clear indication that the Habs D were setting up a wall and than Poof after the 2nd goal they were suffering from brain farts because the game plan was clearly not in evidence. This shit about OV saying that after Fehr had scored and Halak went to drink his water he saw Halak shaking like a leaf...What bullshit!! We know the Caps D is suspect... we need to pin them in their zone. I hope Martin takes advantage of the last line change which is something he's not to strong in.
  10. 1-1 after 2 games in Washington is clearly not the point here. Washington definitely has the momentum coming into our rink after the 4-1 deficit and coming back the way they did will have the Caps thinking, we can do it again, we can open up the machine when we feel like it and do it again, meanwhile in the Habs camp, when they get a lead they will think of this loss and how the Caps came back... mind games.... I just wish we had someone that could contain Ovechkin. Someone needs to ram this guy heavily into the boards and blind side I don't care how but we need to shake him up. Why is everyone afraid of hurting this guys. If they can rip into Crosby than why not OV. An open ice hit a la Scott Stevens will bring a smile on my face
  11. The 1st period was a little scary but the name of the game is about goaltending and Halak provided the moral support this team needed. The 2nd, 3rd and overtime, we played our game. We dictated the game. Everyone played a great game. The 4th line was exceptional. Dominic Moore winning key faceoffs, Hal Gill played a great game. Spacek was unbelievable out there...very surprising, I didn't think he had it in him to stifle Ovechkin the way that he did. 0 shots on goal for OV is an accomplishment. This is the 2nd time this year that he did not collect a shot on net. Saturday will be a different game...
  12. I'm not too thrilled about this project. This building is so 80ish! Ugh
  13. The main difference between Montreal and Toronto is that Torontonians are go getters, they see and conquer! Whereas Montrealers love to live in the past, pat each other on the back and say how great we are and just become aloof in practically all subject matters. You wait, we'll probably loose "Just for laughs" perhaps not all but the Anglo shows to Toronto and I hear Toronto is building a race track to hold either a Champ Car/Nascar and / or a F1 race event...and I'll bet my bottom dollar that Cirque de Soleil will most likely set up shop in Toronto. Montrealers had better start removing their hands in their pockets and become more aggressive in their business skills or we'll loose everything.
  14. Well, the habs snuck in through the back door. At least they're in. Now Washington or New Jersey, I think we stand a better chance with Washington in my opinion. There defence is suspect as well as there goaltending. We might have a shot against them. New Jersey's stifling hockey will kill the habs.
  15. If you check some of the newer ball parks being built these days, capacity does not go beyond 45,000! The days of 50 to 60,000 seat cavernous stadiums are over. They want to watch an outdoor game in an intimate setting.
  16. A 2nd team in Montreal, I don't think so. However, an AHL team playing in LAVAL would be a marriage made in heaven. I thought I heard recently that the HAbs and Bulldogs have signed on for another 3 years. Am I wrong here?
  17. Getting Darche, Pyatt and Moore has solidified the gaping holes we had on the 3rd and 4th lines. Sergei has been playing well helps. With Camalleri on the way and we should be in business.
  18. With 300 million dollars you can construct a spankin brand new stadium downtown and bring back the expos!
  19. The private companies have no choice but to reduce their fares at least to the competitive level the STM will be charging. I like the $7.00 fare...I'm sure they did their homework!
  20. Although TVA Sports has been given the license, we won't be watching anytime soon. I heard 2012 - 2013 will be on air. Who knows what might happen in terms of franchises. I think seeing the Nordiques playing in the NHL is far more real than an NBA, MLB or NFL in this city. There simply isn't any interest.
  21. As much as I adore baseball and have played in the Quebec amateur level, I would not want baseball back in this town. We would not be able to support it with all the primadonna's out there demanding the moon... Baseball needs a "HARD" salary cap. Toronto will definitely have their NFL team because they have heavy interests from local investors, Montreal has none. Our local Millionaires are not interested in shelling their dollars in a money pit.
  22. I wasn't crazy about the acts, though. Shatner is a funny guy, Nikki Yanofski is Canada's next superstar and she's a Montrealer, Neil Young should hang up his harmonica, Avril Lavigne did her thing and she's cute, Alanis Morisette...I think she just came out of extreme makeover because she actually looked hot... The french girl from Montreal, I never heard of, cute though...Simple Plan, enough, I'm tired of listening to them, songs very repetitive...I'm probably missing a few but all in all, Canadians do know hot to poke fun of themselves and the opener was a classic. I did enjoy it. Oh yeah, Michael J. Fox looked great.
