Well, there are still lots of people living around Souligny avenue, and they DONT want the REM next to their house. So maybe the Caisse is right, they should built where there is fuckall nearby and have condo development around it after, no crybabies that way.

The problem is that 1 NIMBY makes more noise than 5 YIMBYs.

On a fait une bonne partie de Turcot en tallus avec la vegetation ca passe un peu mieux qu' en voie surélevée.  On pourrait songer a faire cela sur une certaine partie du parcours du rem de l'est

Haven’t we spent a LOT of words and electrons on how a metro (of any kind) might separate the neighbourhood from the river? Marco Chitti just raised the same prospect on the Twitters. An aerial guideway is much less divisive than a talus (like exo5 Mascouche).

L autouroute 417 a Ottawa est en tallus sur une bonne partie. Avec de la vegetation.  Et il y a plusieurs ouverture pour passer d'un coté a l'autre.  Des zones residentielle sont carrément collée dessus. Sinon il y a en tranchée comme a ville Mont- Royal avec la lígne deux-montagne.  On a construit TMR autour de cette voie Ferrée. J'ose meme pas imaginer le rem passer la,  en voie surélevée.

Makes sense, the Caisse has a vested interest in real estate through Ivanhoe Cambridge. Building the REM through undeveloped land opens up the opportunity as well for easy returns on investment through residential and commercial.
