Une autre addition au Musée des Beaux Arts qui lentement prend de l'expansion sans pour autant bousculer les immeubles avoisinants. Au contraire il les intègre bien en ajoutant des ailes avec chacune leur personnalité propre tout en respectant leur apparence originale.

 

A défaut d'un grand musée spectaculaire avec une architecture impressionnante, nous avons en compromis un grand musée, discret, qui s'insère doucement dans le quartier, comme dans un gant. Un autre bon coup pour Montréal qui préserve ses immeubles historiques tout en leur donnant de nouvelles fonctions contemporaines.

Canada-Quebec Agreement for the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

 

Five storey building to be connected to existing museum

MONTREAL - The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will be adding a new five storey building connected to the current museum. The Minister of Public Works Christian Paradis and Christine St-Pierre, the Quebec Minister of Culture, Communications and Status of Women are proud to announce the signing of a Building Canada contribution agreement for $26 million in joint funding for a Montreal Museum of Fine Arts expansion project.

 

"Promoting the development of our cultural institutions is important for our government. Today, I am proud to announce that the Governments of Canada and Quebec have signed a contribution agreement to facilitate the expansion of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. By investing in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts project, the Government of Canada is creating jobs and helping to stimulate our cultural institutions," stated Paradis.

 

"This expansion project will not only benefit the entire community, but it will also considerably raise the city's profile in terms of culture and tourism. This project truly demonstrates the importance that we place on developing our cultural organizations; the Quebec government is proud to support this major Montreal museum," added St-Pierre.

 

Under this agreement, the Government of Canada will contribute up to $13 million to the project under the Major Infrastructure Component of the Building Canada Fund. The Government of Quebec will also provide $13 million and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will provide the remaining $8.7 million. The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has created a fund of $14 million of private support, to cover the additional annual operating costs of the new pavilion.

 

The expansion work will include the following: construction of a five-storey building behind the main building and an underground passage linking this new pavilion to the Hornstein, Stewart and Desmarais pavilions; restoration of the Erskine and American church nave, which will become a 450-seat concert hall, thus incorporating a musical component into the museum; installation of sophisticated new electro-mechanical and electro-acoustic systems that will make it possible to maintain standardized conservation conditions and ensure state-of-the-art acoustics; integration of new technologies and new educational tools for the new theatre design, to promote public understanding and appreciation of Quebec and Canadian art.

 

This federal investment is in addition to the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan, which will accelerate and expand the existing $33 billion federal investments in infrastructure.

En passant, il me semble que ce fil devrait être dans "en construction". Mais bon, de quoi je me mêle?

Ce chantier est vraiment très impressionnant, il y a une énorme tranchée dans la rue pour construite le tunnel.

 

 

 

 

Le gars est pogné pour descendre des bidons d'essence dans le trou ! J'espère que sa pelle ne "boit" pas trop !
