Construction worker killed in Montreal crane incident

MONTREAL — A 44-year-old construction worker is dead after having his head pinned in the metal structure of a crane at a work site in Montreal.

 

The city's ambulance service says the man suffered a “very serious” head injury when a section of the crane shifted unexpectedly.

 

Spokesman Yvan Montpetit says the victim was about 27 storeys high when the incident occurred.

 

Mr. Montpetit says firefighters and ambulance workers were lifted to the top of the structure in a gondola on a second crane.

 

He says rescue workers were unable to treat the injured man on the crane and brought him to the ground, where he was declared dead.

 

The incident occurred at a work site for a high-rise condominium complex on Nun's Island, which is part of the Verdun borough.

Il y avait une photo dans le journal de Montréal du chantier. Je me demandais elle était pour quoi la grue juste en arrière plan.
