Omg, the pier head on that is so thin! And those notches on the steel beams! We don't do notched beams nowadays... because they eventually crack and fail.

I hear you. The public does not know that Mexico City was built on a swamp while Montreal was built on  hard rock  shale. Accidents with  many dead create public bias -if and  when REM est   presents a model to scale if its project, the reaction to the above ground derailment will be fierce. I can see protests. Note often forgotten Montreal is in an earthquake zone and has been part of rules in the  building code since the early 60s.

À Mexico ils ont construit une ligne (je pense que c'est celle-ci d'ailleurs) pour lequel les trains avaient un empatement trop large pour prendre les courbes. Ils se sont aperçu du problème après plusieurs mois d'exploitation, un train étant resté pris dans la courbe à force d'usure, ils ont étés obligés de fermer une portion de la ligne indéfiniment. Le tronçon en problème ne pouvait pas être corrigé....

Si ça se trouve ça va juste renforcer la position de CDPQi de construire des gros pylônes de béton pour assurer la "sécurité". Out the door the sexy design, back avec la REMtropolitaine du sud-ouest.

Maybe missing something here, but I honestly fail to see how the Mexico crash has anything to do with REM and Montreal's situation. Maybe let's cut the fear mongering and sensationalism a bit?

On prolonge la Bleue d'une station. (Pie-IX / A40)

SLR 1 : Centre-ville - Radisson - Galeries-D'Anjou - Cégep Montréal-Nord.

SLR 2 : Pie-IX/A40 - Galeries-d'Anjou - Radisson - Pointe-aux-Trembles.

On combine les deux projets, et on peut tout faire en aérien, sauf peut-être sur René-Lévesque.

On sauve le prolongement coûteux de la Bleue, et un tunnel inutile sous Lacordaire.

On évite des expropriations, en utilisant l'emprise de la A40 (qui doit être refaite de toute façon) et de la A25. On peut faire des piliers comme le West Island, ça va vite et c'est économique.

Re-MExico.  Je suis étonné des poutres de bétons latérales qui m'ont l'air très minces.  Elle prennent tout en flexion et rien en compression, ce qui est en fait la plus grande force du béton

Je compare avec les poutres similaires du REM.

Est-ce qu'on a un ingénieur en génie civil qui pourrait commenter cela?
