did I misread...2 billion for just that ??

2 Billion for a new terminal, not a 1km hole (or the blue line would be a great deal at half the price...)

Given the alignment of the tunnel that i have seen on maps, it seems like it would be possible to put a REM station under that second terminal. Can't help but wonder if that 2 Billion price includes that, and I also can't help but wonder at which point that single track tunnel just wouldn't be able to handle the load. For a single station, a single tunnel probably works just fine, but if they add 2 more stations and 1 kilometer of tunnel, they might start running into issues. Some of those can be resolved with having 2 tracks at the station so that trains going in different directions can pass each other, but there's a very real limit to the amount of traffic a single track can handle.

Possible yes, but as already discussed in the YUL section of mtlurb, the 'second terminal' is really an appendage of the main terminal, where 1. the planned transit centre will be located (a HUGE investment for ADM) and 2. the check-in areas will remain focused. So short of a larger-scale redesign of the in-terminal passenger flows, it would seem unlikely that a second REM station would be built to service YUL's passenger terminal.  We are not CDG or Heathrow.
