Viva Lofts - 9 étages (2013)

This project has 9 floors including the small structures on the roof.

 

As for the building itself... 9 floors is just right for this part of Bishop st. You know me, i'm always advocating for more height, more density, but honestly 9 floors here is just right. This lot is further back from René-Lévesque than some of the other high rises nearby. In the middle of Bishop, where this project is situated, average building heights are closer to 3 floors than anything else. So 9 floors? Here? Perfect in my opinion.

What a disappointment… 7 floors only? This site should have been at least 20 + floors. :-(

 

I count 8 floors, but ya, still not enough.

Not to mention that this building is fugly.. It looks like i t was pulled out of 1990s suburbia.. And I think it might have blank walls on both sides!

C’est un beau projet! Même si il n’est très haut c’est un bel ajout sur une rue qui en a besoin. Si on y ajoute de nouveaux bâtiments de même gabarit avec des restaurants ou petits commerces au rez-de-chaussée, la rue Bishop redeviendrait rapidement conviviale au sud de la rue Ste-Catherine.

I think the bigger question here should be why the city APPROVES these projects. This basically lowers the taxable amount in the long term since the developers do not have the vertical space necessary to generate multiple amounts of property tax from larger numbers of individual property owners.

a lot of european cities have central cores composed exclusively from such buildings. it's not so bad to be hamburg in these blocks.

Moi aussi je trouve pas ça assez dense pour le centre-ville. Mais ça va boucher un coin plutôt drab de l'ouest du centre-ville.

Effectivement on aurait sans doute aimé plus haut, mais j,aime tout de même l'édifice, qui a un air contemporain et le projet lui-même me semble bien avewc les terrasses individuelles au toit.

 

J'irai jeter un oeil au bureau des ventes lorsqu'il ouvrira voir qu'est-ce qu'il en sera de ce projet...

Pour l'emplacement, le nombre d'étages me satisfait.
