    Je ne suis pas d'accord. Vraiment, bien qu'à prime abord, votre volonté de nettoyer ce coin avec du neuf soit bien logique. Je trouve par contre qu'il serait encore plus intéressant que dans le QDS, on fasse attention de pas perdre le côté bordelique de Montréal. J'aime bien les tours et l'architecture moderne, mais ce qui fait de Montréal une place unique souvent c'est la juxtaposition du vieux et du nouveau. Rasez ces vieilles maisons et tout d'un coup on se ramasse dans un coin de Toronto ou de Houston, des baies vitrées génériques, des portes tournantes, comme au centre-ville de Vancouver ou Dubai. L'uniformité est l'antithèse de la créativité. Restaurons ces petits vestiges d'un Montréal d'une autre échelle, gardons volontairement ces absurdes petites structures qui n'ont pas leur place, j'y vois un peu de poésie dans le fond. Restaurons les et soyons en fiers même si elles ne représentent pratiquement aucun intérêt architectural sauf que d'être d'une autre époque.

    Oh, c'est intéressant. Avec le nouveau Point Zero, Marriott et on l'espère pour bientôt la tour SNC, c'est tout un quartier qui prend du gallon!

    Chassez tout sentiment d'infériorité avec qui que ce soit, et surtout transmettez votre fierté d'être montréalais aux plus jeunes! Une ville tout comme les individus prospère seulement dans un environnement positif.

    La semaaine derniere, un journaliste du NYtimes a fait un rapp0rt negatif sur son test de la model S, disant que les performances sont en deca de ce que la compagnie annonce en terme d'autonomie. Le president de Tesla d'ailleurs estime' que l'article et la publicite' negative qui en est ressortie ont coute' $100 millions a la compagnie!

    Visual Effects Society Chief Grilled on Tax Incentives, Union and the Oscar Snub Les credits d'impts quebecois derangent beaucoup de monde en Californie. It has been a devastating few weeks for the California visual-effects business, but there are signs that the battered industry is ready to fight back. This week the Visual Effects Society called on state leaders to pass new tax incentives designed to keep more effects work in Hollywood. The group argues that California film subsidies, which began in 2009, are insufficient, and that until they are more generous, effects work will continue to migrate to places like Canada and the United Kingdom that offer more comprehensive packages for studios. The group, which is an honorary society with some 3,000 members around the world, also is pushing to establish a "VFX Congress" as a way to channel the outrage of many workers in the industry into concrete actions. The congress will have a lot of anger to exploit. The Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by Rhythm & Hues Studios last month coupled with deep layoffs at DreamWorks Animation have pushed a depleted business to the breaking point. Tensions are bubbling over, with 500 people taking to the street last weekend outside the Oscar ceremony to protest the state of the visual-effects business. They have also outfitted their Twitter and Facebook profiles with images of a blank green screen to symbolize what many movies would look like were it not for visual effects.     Quand on voit que Rythm & Hues, un grand studio de SFX, faire faillite aux Etats-Unis malgré un carnet bien garni, vous comprendrez pourquoi on se dépèche de venir profiter des crédits d'impots au Québec. Il faut souvent investir des millions de dollars pour faire une série ou un film, engager beaucoup de monde, et l'industrie étant ce qu'elle est, les projets s'annulent et l'entreprise se retrouve dans le trouble et pas assez de cash pour survivre. Ca va creer une belle grappe industrielle avec les jeux videos, wow!

C'est à travers la poursuite de l'excellence que toutes choses prennent du mieux et deviennent attrayantes, et non pas une quelconque répression de la soit-disant compétition.

    'Twisted' Zaha Hadid tower under construction in Milan as one of triplet Other images in the article... A ‘twisted’ tower designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) is currently under construction as part of a project which will dramatically alter the skyline of Milan, Italy. Forming part of the CityLife Milano masterplan, and situated in the city’s historic Fiera district, The LEED Gold certified Hadid Tower (Torre Hadid) will be 170m high with 44 floors. Containing both commercial and office space, with a shopping area which connects to the metro station, the Hadid Tower is being built alongside the 220m Arata Isozaki & AssociatesTower (‘the straight one’) and the 150m Daniel Libeskind Tower (‘the curved one’). Designed with a distinctive twisted shape and dubbed ‘Lo storto’ (the Twisted One) the retail section situated at the bottom of the tower rises and twists to give way to a galleria and promenade. These twisting lines continue up through the tower to form a vertical 'spiralling vector'. This twisting design is made possible by using a conventional central core with a radial display of columns to support the load. According to ZHA: “The structure of the tower is conceived as a stack of equivalent, economically efficient floor slabs that incrementally twist about a vertical axis.” The sheer height of this office tower will also mean users have sweeping views from the Piazza Firenze to the Piazza Giovanni Amendola. As well as this, attention has been paid to make the building as environmentally friendly as possible with the tower’s external skin containing a system of sun-deflecting louvers flanked by a double layer of glazing, The three towers together will hold close to 10,000 people and will feature an art museum, a shopping district and a pavilion.     Tours jumelles... dommage. Un effet escalier avec une tour plus haute a l'Est serait beaucoup mieux. Il semble y avoir un desir d'originalite' au niveau de l'enveloppe. On verra si les materiaux sauront bien faire lever le tout. Pas mal quand meme.
