    Very possible that they didn't properly protect the ventilation conduits during construction. Now that all the equipment is up and running, the dust is being blown out through the ducts

    Carbonleo already has many commercial tenants lined up (including anchor tenants and some that do not yet have a presence in Montreal). There’s a reason they’re starting with the commercial component; the demand is there.

    Mixed projects are actually a very good idea. They act as a catalyst for street-level activity with different types of people (owners, renters and tourists). The number of tourists is increasing every year (and China/Japan are just starting to discover our city) and vacancy rates continue to decrease. Just because there is a small hotel nearby doesn't mean that there isn't a need to increase the offer.

    In general, slurry walls are used when the water table is too high or when the excavation is near a water source (past or present)

    Exactly. A slurry wall is simply to protect the excavation. It is has no structural purpose once the actual foundations are poured

    There is already a thread for this project in the Cancelled Projects section. Regardless of what they are advertising, I highly doubt this will be a luxury project lol FYI, construction is moving forward; they are about 2-3 floors above ground.

    The rust is coming from the painted chevetres, not from the rebar in the concrete (which is entirely in stainless steel as @DravasQc mentioned)

    Stephen Bronfman just did an impromptu interview on CTV News live from ExposFest. Didn't give many details but he did stress that things are moving forward. Keep the faith!
