  1. It's a great idea but you can't just build new schools at every station and abandon the old ones ($$$). Like I said, it's a process that will take a significant amount of time. In the meantime, parking space is a must.
  2. I don't think some of you realize how bad TEC service is in the suburbs... The REM will still be a success if the size of the parking lots are reduced but it will be a much greater success if people can drop their kids off at school/daycare and then drive over to the station and find a parking spot. As @ToxiK said, the best bet is to build the parking lots now, giving us time to upgrade/adapt our services and infrastructure to make them less car-oriented, and then build TODs on that land in the future!
  3. Just to put things in perspective, the piles used during the construction of the Burj Khalifa are 58 meters deep !
  4. La signalisation pour la voie reservée sur Thimens à déjà été installée
  5. So. Many. Mustaches.
  6. Oui la conformité ajoute une certaine protection mais les exigences commencent à devenir extrême, au point ou il ne reste que 2-3 entrepreneurs qui "qualifient" pour déposer leur soumission.
  7. This is what happens when you have a system where the lowest bidder wins. Profit margins are so thin they try to make their money on change orders. The entire process needs to be reviewed.
  8. 28 janvier 2019 (de plus près)
  9. On parle des deux côtés de la bouche ! More congestion didn’t seem to be a problem when PM closed the road across Mont Royal and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for the new 1.5 lane rue Sainte-Catherine. But it’s a problem now, when a private investor wants to invest billions of dollars in our city. Remind me, do those projects have social acceptability? If not , we better block them at all costs ! Based on past arguments , more congestion should incite people to use public transit . Right ? Is that not still true ??? The real scandal will be pursuing legal action against Carbonleo, who did everything by the book, using taxpayer money ! Not socially acceptable in my book ...
  10. Tweaking and reshaping a project are not the same thing. Is the city going to compensate Carbonleo for completely reshaping the project at such at a late stage? Definitely not... They should have woken up a long time if that was their intention. Re-configuring and rebuilding the interchange is necessary, just as rebuilding the Champlain bridge was necessary.
  11. The whole point to re-configuring the interchange is to provide a new solution and alleviate the problem. And you don't get things going by imposing new restrictions and blocking a project that's already been approved. The city can work with Carbonleo to make adjustments, just as they did with the residential component, in a constructive way. A way that lets other investors know: we are here to nurture your investment.... not to shoot it in the head.
  12. You said it best, Decarie has been congested for years. We should have "poured" money into this problem a LONG time ago. It has nothing to do with access to the Royalmount parking, but simply with the fact that this project may finally be the kick in the ass that the city/province needs to get things going in this area. Cars aren't going anywhere anytime soon and the 15/40 interchange is vital to our economy. I agree, we need to fundamentally change the way we plan this city.... which includes re-configuring interchanges that have greatly exceeded their useful lifespans.
  13. @Decel Les villes défusionnées ne sont pas contre le projet. I agree with @Gotti, what a ridiculous time to come forward with these recommendations. Carbonleo stepping up to the plate with a Dubai mall-like project and the city wants to kill it before it's even started. Why don't they take those 6 months to reconfigure the 15/40 interchange now that they know this project is for real?
  14. I'm sure there will be several configuration changes as well. The Royalmount project is already paying dividends guys!

    Royal Quai

Royal Quai Luxury at the water’s edge Located in what was once the McConnell Woods on a huge estate on the banks of the Lake Saint-Louis in Dorval, the Royal Quai residences will offer an unparalleled lifestyle. Ten of them will have direct access to the lake, allowing boat lovers to own their own private docks. Delivery scheduled from late 2019. “It’s a unique and very special project,” says Paolo Presti, Vice President of Presti Homes and Developments, the real estate company responsible for the design and construction of Royal Quai. “It’s rare to find a building plot in the West Island located directly on the waterfront, especially one of this size. The region is beautiful,” he says. Hence, future owners will enjoy an exceptional environment, in an oasis of privacy with peaceful nature surroundings, a stone’s throw from the water and its soothing presence. Built in perfect harmony with this setting, the 31 luxury residences will each be a haven of peace and serenity.
