  2. https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/greater-montreal-asks-for-tax-increase-to-pay-for-public-transit-1.4165348 The Caisse de Depot's infrastructure arm provided this illustration of what an REM station would look like. CTV Montreal Published Tuesday, November 6, 2018 11:43AM EST The executive committee of the Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM) is asking the provincial government to increase taxes to pay for the REM electric train line. The CMM represents 82 municipalities on and off the island, and its executive committee is led by Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante. The CMM released a statement Tuesday saying that construction of the REM and highway work in and around Greater Montreal is creating traffic problems, and as such the region needs more public transit funding to reduce the number of cars on the road. It says a tax increase -- devoted to public transit -- will improve traffic flow and make it easier for people to commute. The CMM also points out it is limited by law as to how much funding it can devote to the regional body that oversees public transit, the ARTM. They say it's also needed to reach the goal of having 35 percent of all trips in the region being made by public transit by 2031. Currently 24 percent of all trips are made this way. The CMM states that the costs associated with construction measures are not always taken into account, and so ignored by the provincial government. A rare exception is the extra funding devoted to public transit around the Turcot Interchange, although the funding was only implemented last year, several years into the massive construction project. Last August, Mobility Montreal drew up a list of other suggestions including the creation of park and go lots around the island to make car-pooling or taking public transit easier. Mobility Montreal has also proposed the addition of bus and commuter train departures and the renewal of bus lanes.
  3. I loved the garden on the roof of Ginza Six in Tokyo. Beautiful place to observe the skyline and relax
  4. Probablement un traitement anti-graffiti
  5. With the slurry walls complete, this should advance relatively quickly...
  6. The Liberals were doing a great job. Let's see how long this surplus lasts...
  7. BNC tower will take longer to build than TDC3 It's taller and much more complex (office vs condos)
  8. Pretty freaky lol... happy Halloween!
  9. In the proposal, the REM station is actually located in the Reno-Depot parking lot and not further west. I guess the plans changed.
  10. @wellz Your sarcastic, facetious comments don't really help...
  11. Whether you are for or against this project, this is big news for the 514.
  12. The studios are a walk-in closet with a sink and toilet...
  13. Damn, no construction elevator... the guys working on this project must be in great shape!
  14. That price doesn't include parking or a locker. Lockers are $5000 and a parking spot is $75000 (only available for 2 bedroom units or larger) But I do agree that this project is in another league...
  15. If only the north side of RL could keep up....
  16. They might be waiting for the concrete to reach 70% resistance before putting any machinery or equipment on it for the next (wood) phase of construction.
  17. I went to check out the sale on Sunday morning, there were at least 1000 people in line. Didn't feel like waiting 3 hours lol Apparently the old metro signs were $40
  18. They made 24 condos available (1, 2 and 3 bedroom models) for the launch event. 18/24 are sold/reserved, meaning they can break ground for phase 1 in the next few weeks. The project will have 15/16 phases total, including 2 phases of HLM to satisfy the demands set forth by the city. The HLM phases will border the new park (see site plan below). Overall seems like an interesting project but prices are high for the area ($259K + tax for a 1 bedroom).
  19. I'm going to the launch event today, will try to take some pictures. For what it's worth they said that 200 people officially confirmed their presence but they are only making 25 condos available.
  20. They just have to be careful when pouring the concrete and make sure to heat it right after the pour They will also have to put an accelerator in the concrete while pouring.
