L’Office veut franciser les raisons sociales

Pour ma part, je me fou un peu de ces petites lois qui ne servent pas à grand choses. Les gens diront second cup quand même par exemple.

 

C'est plus destiné à faire chier les anglais qu'à aider les français. Pour ma part, je vais élevé mes enfants en français. Il vont apprendre l'anglais mais à la maison ça sera francophone. Je vais aussi leur montrer à être fier de leur langue et fier de origine. Ainsi, ils auront encore plus de chance d'élever leur enfant en français et ainsi de suite.

 

Sinon concernant les commerces qui servent en anglais, ça ne m'arrive pas souvent. Mais 95% du temps, je répond toujours en français et plus souvent qu'autrement, il switch. C'est moi le client après tout.

My biggest problem is how this institution believes that Quebec is only a french province and it has "special" privileges while they forget that both the English and French have contributed a lot to this province. Forcing corporations to change their previous names with cute little descriptive terms is a complete waste of time, and yes this is a big deal since millions of dollars will have to be funded in order to comply with their worthless standards. This will also force many foreign investors to think twice before installing businesses in Quebec. I completely agree that french must be protected and taught, but i think that changing Canadian Tire to Le Canadian Tire is outrageously dumb and won't help to the so called "preservation" of french language at all. Quebec must remind itself as well that Anglophones have rights of services in English as well which is a topic that is never talked about among those sovereign idiots. The fact is these people only think about themselves and not about the global perspective in Quebec. People never complained about this but it looks like L'Office has to pick its nose into this to demonstrate that their actually doing something. Just a FYI, I was born here in Quebec and proud to be a Canadian and Quebec-er and my kids are going to learn both of the languages. I will never allow Quebec to separate and being torn apart by these nationalistic groups which have no common sense. You'll never stop immersion of languages together even if you would want to. Language always changes throughout years and it has been proven that way. It does not only happen in Quebec but in the entire world but they don't seem to bitch as much as these good for nothing are.

Je n'aime pas l'intervention gouvernementale au niveau de tout ce qui est culturel et linguistique. Je préfère voir les francophones refuser d'acheter dans les commerces qui ne les servent pas en français. De plus en plus le font, et c'est tant mieux, car c'est avec le porte-feuille que le message passe. Le reste n'est qu'un écran de fumée.

Bien dit uqam+. JE suis d'Accord avec ton commentaire,par contre je crois que l'OLF va un peu trop loin dans ce cas-ci. Franchement, il me semble que Les Cafés Second Cup c'est assez non? On va leur demander de changer ça pour "Les Café Deuxième Tasse"? On va demander à Canadian Tire de changer leur nom à "Pneu Canadien"? Quelle perte de temps, d'argent et d'énergie! Au lieu de niaiser avec des conneries comme ça, pourquoi ne pas faire de la pression sur le gouv pour qu'il investisse un peu plus pour mieux encadrer les immigrants, investir plus dans les cours de français pour les nouveaux venus. Il me semble que c'est de l'argent bien dépensé. Mais non, l'OLF vit sur un nuage!

1. i have never said these millions of dollars funded will be dedicated for changing their social reasons/goals but simply into renaming them and yes this costs a lot of money. These kinds of things are major factors in whether big companies want to establish businesses here.

 

3. And large sum of my tax money goes to these groups which go far beyond from what their main goal is.

 

4. And I hold on on that thought, because instead of resolving major economic and social problems that Quebec currently has with powerful ideas and studies these groups live on a fantasy island thinking that separation will solve every problems that Quebec has acquired throughout the years.

 

5. I never pretended that Quebec-ers don't want anything to do with the English language... it was just a simple comment to the people that think that a foreign language that is merging into another's life destroys the native one.

 

Yes i do understand a lot of people might agree or disagree with my comments, but my overall opinion is "Do we need all of this?". Do we need to endlessly debate something that has been fought and discussed for over billions of times? No. As I said I am completely for the protection of French not only in Quebec but in the entire Canada, but segregating and separating because someone thinks he's different is completely wrong and unjustified and these little things are just complete worthless provocations from the OLF. In order to build a strong country, you always have to have a united idea and opinion. Anyway, thank you for your well thought reply Uqam + and next time maybe ill try to be less rude and attacking in my comments.

uqam+ : Les commerces vont ajouter "Les magasins" devant leur nom, et ca ne changera absolument rien! Ca ne fait qu'ajouter une couche de réglementation inutile dans un environnement d'affaire qui est déjà trop compliqué.

 

En plus, c'est d'ajouter un qualificatif qui bien souvent n'existe même pas dans la version anglaise, et les compagnies qui utilisent un qualificatif dans la raison sociale anglophone, l'ont bien souvent déjà traduit, les cafés second cup plutôt que second cup coffee, même choses avec Starbucks (Café Starbucks Coffee) ou Five Guys Burger et Frites. Nulle part ailleurs Best Buy est décrit comme Best Buy stores ou Best Buy Electronics, donc d'ajouter un Les magasins Best Buy et ou Best Buy Électronique dénature la raison sociale de ces compagnies. (Ou ton exemple de Canadian Tire, en anglais ce n'est pas Canadian Tire Hardware - sans compter que Canadian Tire ce n'est pas qu'une quincaillerie, c'est beaucoup plus que cela maintenant)

 

C'est une bataille inutile de la part de l'OQLF qui devrait plutôt concentrer ses efforts sur la françisation des lieux de travail et des commerces, cela serait plus utile comme bataille!

Il ne faudrait pas avoir de faux débats à partir d'une mauvaise interprétation de l'intervention de l'OLF. Ils ne veulent pas faire passer "Cafés second cup" à "cafés deuxième tasse" : à ce que je sache, personne n'a jamais dit ça. C'est un épouvantail inutile au débat. Ce qu'ils veulent, c'est que d'autres compagnies imitent second cup, qui a ajouté "cafés" dans ses enseignes.

 

Donc ils ne veulent pas pneus canadiens, mais quincaillerie canadian tires, etc.

 

On peut bien sûr trouver ça non pertinent et le critiquer. Mais il faut parler des vraies propositions.

 

Mon dernier mot là-dessus : ce serait bien si on pouvait discuter de ça en s'en tenant aux faits et sans que personne n'insulte personne, non ?

 

Bon, d'accord, mais ça ne change pas le fait que c'est une perte de temps et d'argent. Comme l'a si bien expliqué Westaust, OQLF devrait se concentrer sur d'autres aspects bien plus important!

Je pense pas que c'est très intelligent de traduire une marque de commerce littéralement... si Canadian Tire traduirait son enseigne à "pneu canadien" ça serait complètement débile de leur part.

 

Par contre certains commerces ont réussis à traduire leur raison sociale avec brio... office depot = bureau en gros et marks warehouse = l'équipeur, sont de bons exemples... (l'équipeur est une filiale de Canadian Tire en passant).

 

Il s'agit ici de donner un cachet français particulier aux raisons sociales, pas de les traduire mot à mot.
