  1. The success of something like this depends on connectivity. If: 1- you can get busses feeding the tramway where residents are at most 500m to a bus stop; and 2- the bus has a frequent and direct route to the tramway; and 3- the tramway has a fast connection to the REM or metro. Then it will be successful.
  2. This Reno should not have been approved without addressing the Bleury side of the building.
  3. If i count the green balconies - it's almost 50 stories!
  4. They should not save anything. They should build a super tall skinny very luxury hotel with a plaza with numerous terrasses/restos at ground level.
  5. Does anyone know who the architects are?
  6. Very ugly streetscape on both St Antoine and St Jacques. Need to widen sidewalks and add a lot of trees and other greenery. I just hope that any new development will breathe some life at street level and not add to the concrete jungle that currently exists.
  7. It marries so well with the street and it’s entourage and it adds so well a dense residential component. We should demand this of every project proposed on our commercial streets.

...And maybe an EATALY at ground level
  9. This is what should be done on many commercial streets - incorporate high density residential while still maintaining it's commercial vocation.

Perfect location for 5 or 6 star hotel with a lively street integration like Resto/Terrasses and the like.
  11. It would have made sense to have a direct interior connection to Fairview.
  12. I think it's time the city makes an effort to significantly increase the quality and accelerate it's plan to start beautifying with the completion of streets, sidewalks, and greenery.
  13. It is so sad that they would design and build something like this that belongs in a campground for the historical Lachine Canal.
  14. I agree that it is important that they function and are reliable in our weather but it doesn't mean you cannot couple that with great design.
  15. I agree with your assessment of Vertu and Rockland but they will both thrive if switched to a mega residential project.
  16. Let the centers fight it out. That is how we achieve better and more. They will need to better their offer or they don't survive.
  17. The signage was so much more lively then.
  18. Some comments: 1- The intersection of the 40 and 15 have been a nightmare forever. We should not stop what is the largest piece of underdeveloped land in the center of the city during one of the most impressive construction booms because the MTQ can't get it's act together; 2- You don't give a permit and then try to take it back. What message are we sending developers. I agree that we shouldn't let a TMR dictate and affect millions around it but then the government should have the courage of fixing it - and not try to undo what has been permitted; and 3- If anything, we should be pushing for a larger project similar to what has been proposed in Mississauga as the location deserves a mega project with lots of residential and lots of high rises.
  19. Before any re-do of the 40, it is essential that the 440 extension to the 40 is completed. Then, dangerous materials can be rerouted to the 440.
  20. I could definitely see something like this for the residential part.
  21. Now this would make a great addition as an extension to the Palais des Congres!
