I am hoping that it doesn't turn out like a suburban lifestyle centre. Dix 30 is one. I think Royalmount could be an opportunity to provide a high density multi-use development in mid-town Montreal, that will be a showcase for a rebirth of the whole shopping experience, including stores, entertainment, activities, and thousands of residences, and a transit central. if done properly, it will not compete with the downtown core or specialty boutique streets. It will compete with your major suburban malls like the Carrefour Lavals. Nothing wrong with that - they have been siphoning customers from Montreal proper for decades. And in the long run - the Carrefour Lavals, Saint Bruno's, and Galeries D'Anjous will have to follow - and that is not a bad thing.
