  1. We need a nice iconic building with superb integration at street level to hide the Samcon project and close the loop around the squares
  2. I am very impressed by the execution of both the New Champlain and the Turcot projects.
  3. It's a shame that the oratory's square is more like a parking lot instead of a grand piazza like it deserves.
  4. We could do better than that
  5. Why are they not limiting the study to proven and reliable technologies that would decrease the time not by 25%, but by 60 or 70% significantly increasing travel from the two largest cities and the most densely populated area of the country? Is the airline lobby that powerful?
  6. IMO very poor design and treatment of the corner. It should open up to Peel and to Notre Dame. Also, like the rest of the ETS it doesn't open up to the street.
  7. I don't think a CAQ victory would change much. As a society we're beyond the quarrels and ineptitudes of the past 4 decades.
  8. In Toronto, the Yorkdale mall, probably the busiest in the country, has direct accesses from the 401. The solution, although costly, is to have direct access through overpasses or underpasses from both the 40 and the 15.
  9. We could remove the roof for the World Cup and build the tempered glass one after the cup
  10. Not too difficult to calculate: sales = 3 million sq.ft. X $1,000 per sq ft (sales per sq.ft.in a good mall) = $3billion (annual sales). employees = $3billion divided by $150per hour (sales productivity per hour per employee) = 20 million employee hours divided by 2,000 hours (number of hours per year per employee) =10, 000 full-time employees
  11. minimum 10,000 employees just in retail and a few thousand more for the entertainment and maintenance portion.
  12. I would disagree. There are little parks with fences in Manhattan that are a jewel to be in.
  13. I think a developer who takes the financial risk should be allowed to do so, but I also think the developer should contribute massively to finance whatever additional infrastructure is required so as to not worsen the current congestion problem.
  14. Would it not make sense to do the excavation and underground portion of phase 2 now?

    Expos de Montréal

Is there any reason why the stadium could not be built over the CN tracks at Peel and Wellington?
  16. ...and we need an architectural wonder to frame the north end of the place des festivals!
  17. This type of park is exactly what is needed between St Laurent and St Urbain in the quadrilateral facing the Palais des congress.
  18. Great Idea! I could also see this type of service along the canal from Lachine into the old port.
  19. It's really too bad that the quadrilateral St Urbain/Viger/St Laurent/St Antoine is not turned into a public green space in the same style as Dominion Square - much needed green space in the area and that the extension be built to the east of that, that is, the quadrilateral St Laurent/Viger/St Antoine/Saguine with an underground connection to the existing palais de congress. This would solve so many of the problems in that area - cover the highway and unite the CHUM, Old Montreal, Quartier International and Chinatown all at once.

    Tourisme à Montréal

I can't remember where I saw it - but it is more like 14 million. Can anyone confirm?
