The poles are ~40 metres apart, but ever so slightly different from the spacing of the columns, so it really tweaks my OCD that the poles and columns are not in sync.

OK  (keep in mind that this was intended to convey a more positive message to what I otherwise described as as "sad state of affairs" in my original post).  So here it goes:

** no hyphen in English (rendez-vous in French) 

*** Clouds (with a capital "c") can also refer to a song, and subsequently a movie.
