Tout à fait, les hotels à tapis brun, pas capable. À part les hotels Le Germain, y a pas grand choix dans les autres villes canadiennes.

The ritz in montreal is not part of the ritz carlton franchise...

But i agree with Martin our boutique hotels really are much more interesting than the big brands (in my humble opinion), both in terms of design and customer service...

Brand hotels are for general public. If you got the money, you leave brands behind and you go to old Montréal...

Guys, I agree the boutique hotels are nice, but it's a question of demand from business travelers and Montreal just doesn't have the clout. While we're building the Courtyard, Toronto just opened the Trump / Shangri-La / Four Seasons and Ritz in the past year. Who cares if these are somewhat generic? It shows that Toronto can attract a lot of foreign money from investors and has the pull of a world class city with high end hotel brands. Other than Sofitel, which can barely be put at the same level as the other big chains, Montreal really lacks high end accommodation...

Franchement, j'adore les hauts des tours "en diamant" vitré, très "classe"!

 

Le nouveau rendu de NEUF... raffole vraiment pas. J'espère qu'ils pondront une version moins brutaliste. Voyez comment ça ressemble à 2e gratte-ciel d'Atlanta (en hauteur):

Par curiosité, je suis allé sur leur site. C'est rendu 2020 pour le Waldorf Montréal. J'aimerais vraiment en savoir plus sur ce qui les motive et pourquoi c'est si long. S'ils n'en veulent pas, pourquoi pas juste tout annuler? Et pourquoi ne pas avoir profité du boom de l'an passé pendant que ça bouillonnait? Anyway, 2020...

Aux portes ouvertes Design Montreal, on m'expliquait que NEUF Architectes n'avait pas de nouvelle commande pour le Waldorf. Le projet n'est pas mort, mais sur la glace...du moins du côté des architectes.
