Cela semble correspondre au fait que NouvLR désire possiblement y poser des bi-blocs + armature d'acier, puis couler le tout en béton.

No longer used, it was to bring in coal back when the CCU was coal fired

It’s amazing that I’ve probably driven down [University and then] Robert-Bourassa to the Bonaventure thousands of times over the years and never noticed, but now with Street View and Earth and all the contributions here I’m learning so much more about my own city!

I’m still wondering why the West Island and South Shore branches use different construction methods: West Island uses a profiled voussoir span while the 4 km PSC section uses precast beams topped by a poured deck. The Canal crossing started almost a year before the first voussoirs arrived at Fairview, and now after just 13 months total — including six months’ suspension for winter and Covid, so just 7 months of work — almost 6 km of voussoir spans are complete. The method used for PSC just seems so inefficient by comparison.

South shore aerial span is shorter: its only from the canal to the base of the Champlain Bridge.  Voussoir and launcher are only worth it on longer distances, similar to a tunnel boring machine vs other tunneling techniques.  The South shore also has trickier crossing such as the Canal, the CN tracks, the Ile-des-Sours channels... all of which might be too long for voussoir but are ok with custom-made steel beams.

On remarque, sur la caméra Devisubox de la station du Quartier, qu'on a déjà installé les supports à caténaire sur plusieurs poteaux situés sur le tronçon-test à Brossard.  Verra-t-on rouler des wagons cette année ? 🤞

Je suis passé dans le coin le 23 juillet dernier... et ce mardi (en soirée... alors, désolé pour la qualité des photos ).  Je verrai bien qu'on y tende un caténaire entre ces poteaux.
