The planks are at an angle because they are covering the top of the waler, which is the beam that the tiebacks are going through (and that help support the soldier piles).

Pas évident de travailler dans un vrai marécage après la grosse pluie du weekend. Je sympathise avec les gars car les conditions du terrain sont parfois merdiques. Heureusement tout cela sera du passé prochainement puisqu'on semble avoir atteint le fond. Dans quelques semaines, suite au premiers coulages, rien n'y paraitra plus.

The removed a lot of the machinerie from the hole yesterday, it seems excavation is nearly complet.
