Montreal, March 21st, 2012 - Ivanhoé Cambridge has selected Sid Lee Architecture, in collaboration with Sid Lee, to re-envision the Rockhill multi-residential complex, located in Montreal.

The idea is to breathe new life into the apartments and into this six-building complex, located at the foot of Mount Royal and 10 minutes from downtown Montreal. For Sylvain Fortier, president of the residential entity of Ivanhoé Cambridge, Sid Lee Architecture's approach really shines a spotlight on the Rockhill as a whole, with architecture being integrated not only into the infrastructure, but also the branding. Their ventures in residential real estate, urban development and retail are proof of their expertise and we believe that they are the best professionals for the project.

 

In order to relive its glory days of the 1960s, the Rockhill, a multi-residential rental complex, will undergo a modernization, both architecturally speaking and in terms of branding, thanks to the teams at Sid Lee Architecture and Sid Lee. Due to its expertise in the fields of urban, architectural and interior design, Sid Lee Architecture was selected to re-envision the complex. The two teams will also be responsible for producing the strategy behind the new Rockhill, in line with Ivanhoé Cambridge Residential's vision of offering quality multi-residential housing in up-and-coming neighbourhoods boasting interesting perspectives.

 

The Rockhill is located in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood and comprises six rental buildings, over a thousand apartments and a small shopping mall. Built in the 1960s, it was Ivanhoé Cambridge's first multi-residential acquisition in Quebec.

Rockhill is one of my favorite complex in Montreal along with Westmount Square! I really hope they wont change it too much.

Quelle bonne nouvelle! Et cela ne peut qu'encourager les proprios actuels de tours multi-résidentielles locatives à Montréal à rénover leurs tours des années 60 et 70 souvent abandonnées à l'usure du temps et à la négligence.

Les Aparts La Cité sont sur le marché en ce moment....! ( 1325 unités.....je crois versus les 1004 + ou moins du Rockhill).

Non loin de l’oratoire Saint-Joseph, sur le versant nord-ouest du mont Royal, les six immeubles des Appartements Rockhill retrouveront leur prestance. Ivanhoé Cambridge, qui a acquis la propriété en juillet 2011, a fait appel à l’agence Sid Lee Architecture pour moderniser les deux tours de 20 étages et les quatre édifices de 15 étages, construits de 1965 à 1968. Les travaux prévus seront dévoilés en primeur, lundi, aux locataires du millier d’appartements. «Le complexe se distingue par son emplacement, car il se trouve à la fois tout près de la nature et du centre-ville, avec une riche vie de quartier, explique Michèle*Meier, vice-présidente affaires publiques et communications chez Ivanhoé Cambridge. On veut redonner au complexe le prestige et la vitalité qui ont fait sa réputation.» Le projet de revitalisation sera dévoilé au grand public mardi.

Annoncé au moi de juin 2013, le projet de modernisation du complexe résidentiel Rockhill, au pied du Mont-Royal, entend faire de cette icône du développement urbain une nouvelle adresse de prestige à Montréal. L’investissement de plus de 20 M$ comprend de nombreuses améliorations aux immeubles ainsi que la mise sur pied de services à la carte et d’activités exclusives aux résidents.

 

Le projet s’articulera autour de deux axes : d’une part, la modernisation et le réaménagement des immeubles et des espaces communs et, d’autre part, la création d’un milieu de vie centré sur la communauté et le plaisir de vivre. Huit penthouses entièrement rénovés, des lobbys stylisés, des zones Wi-Fi et une galerie marchande aérée et lumineuse sont au nombre des améliorations prévues.

 

 

Rockhill après le projet de modernisation

 

• Modernisation des balcons et conformité aux nouvelles normes de la Régie du bâtiment du Québec

• Réaménagement de la cour intérieure, incluant un aménagement paysagé recherché et inspirant

• Rénovation de penthouses

• Aménagement de lobbys stylisés et modernes au rez-de-chaussée des tours B et C

• Relocalisation des bureaux administratifs

• Construction d’une entrée monumentale (la canopée)

• Réaménagement des accès piétons et pour véhicules

• Transformation de la salle communautaire en salle multifonction

• Réaménagement de la piscine intérieure

• Réaménagement de certains lobbys actuels en espaces communs pour les résidents (salle de travail et d’étude)

• Installation de zones Wi-Fi pour une connectivité internet rapide et efficace

• Signalisation améliorée

• Conversion de la galerie marchande en un espace aéré, accueillant et lumineux

• Réaménagement de la buanderie au niveau du lobby de la tour B

Mon père a vécu au Rock Hill dans les années 60s. Selon lui c'était vriament hip d'y habiter à l'époque

 

Je suis curieux de voir la vue des étages supérieurs. Ça doit être sensationnel.

Mes parent y ont habité il y a 25 ans environ. Ils étaient au 18e étage et avaient droit à de superbes couchés du soleil! Malgré que les tours ne sont pas très hautes, par grands vents, le lustre au dessus de la table de la salle à manger se balançait
