  1. I guess Americans don't want to spend a pretty penny on Japanese minimalism.
  2. The thing about NYC, it is so dense and there are many bus routes and metro stations. Here in Montreal, if you are in the city you are fine, but when you get to some other areas, you really need a car. Our metro system is centralized, it is meant for people to go into the city, the only way to bypass the city, is the blue line, even that is a pain. Montreal has a long way to go, before we can have a system that rivals NYC, Paris and other cities.
  3. I am guessing this project is dead?
  4. Ouch. That will not change anytime soon.

    Urban boulevards

I believe it is time for the boulevards across the city to be updated with trees every 10-50 meters. Widen the medians, so they can be used to walk or bike, sit down. True, this would remove 1 lane in each direction. It will for people to think about getting out of there car and using an alternative means of transportation. What I have in mined, is something similar to what I have seen in Mexico City. I believe if we can get more trees, it will help make our heat waves more manageable. It will cost a pretty penny, but will bring dividends in the future.

    Highway 13 Bridge and Gouin

They also did some lane reconfiguration. Hopefully it will be permanent. I find it a bit safer.
  7. I went over the weekend and it is pretty nice. Too bad Time Out Market is closed, I would have liked to see it. Uniqlo opening late 2020, and i just found out you can order from Uniqlo Canada website. The only thing that drove me nuts is the elevator. It wouldn't want to go up to the 2nd floor, yet if you took the escalator up, the elevator would come up, so you can get back down.
  8. This wasn't an issue before they started this whole project?
  9. Luxury development next to the highway, hmm.
  10. The city really needs to look at their plan and see what rules could be "bent". If the city and others consider restaurants part of the fabric of Montreal culture/society, we should allow restaurants that closed forever because of COVID to try and get a loan or grant to re-open with a food truck.
  11. I wonder with a bus going directly from Deux Montagnes to the city, how many people from Roxboro and Sunnybrook will decided to take the train to Deux Montagnes in the morning to get to the city.
  12. I wonder if many restaurants that will not reopen again with a physical location, will they try again with a food truck?
  13. I was in the neighbourhood yesterday and I noticed something funny, there is a security camera looking directly inside one of the units.
  14. You beat me to it! I guess that is a good way for them to use the spot for the next 6 months and get money.
  15. I know I am late to the game for this, but I believe we shouldn't pay a penny for CdS. Look at the money we put into Bombardier and we didn't get anything from it.
  16. I do agree with you there. It be nice if they did something modern and warm in that area. MGA from BC came up with a project for Paris using wood: http://mg-architecture.ca/work/reinventer-paris/
  17. So Jump is like the fast fashion of the bike scene? One time use? Montreal should ban them until they have better business ethic.
  18. I just found this on Visual Capitalist website. It was posted in 2016. With retail and office space is in the shitter right now, it might be good to go keep the towers but retrofit them for vertical farms. The mall area, can also be for indoor farming. Just imagine growing tropical fruit, indoors during peak Montreal winter. You can still also have towers for people to live in, but people with have also access to fresh food. It be farm to table 2.0. Visual Capitalist had
  19. At least we will be ready for the next influenza-like pandemic.
  20. If the project gets shelved, it be interesting to see what Carbonleo will end up doing with the location. Sell it, or keep it an open pit or sell it to someone and it turns into a mixed use project: server farm and multi level green house.
  21. Let's see what Royalmount 3.0 will look like.
  22. What is crazy the nearest Hertz used car lot is in Ottawa. I am surprised there isn't one in Quebec. It be nice to get a used rental car for dirt cheap.
