Partager Posté(e) 10 mars (modifié) Valerie has gotten officially bonkers. Try to propose in Paris to put traffic lights on the Boul Périphérique, or the 620 in Toulouse, or the R20 in Brussels, the R2 in Antwerp, the A12 in The Hague or the S116 in Amsterdam-North and the population would just revolt. I don't understand how our mayor, which wants to be so much like Europe, keeps on thinking that removing highways will remove cars. It won't. It will just cause more traffic congestion, which will cause more impatience, which - in turn - lead to more road rage. The same is happening already with the pilot projects of the Voie Camillien-Houde, which sees a lot less traffic than the Bonaventure highway, which sees a lot more road rage on Bd Édouard-Montpetit and the surroundings. Commuters are used to leave at X time from home, so if they're no longer getting in time to their destination, it will take a lot of time for them to adjust and that period will come with a lot of frustration and impatience. Being a metropole comes with accepting that there will be highways and that they're not always pretty. Either put the traffic in a tunnel if she really wants to make a fuzzy-feeling place next to the river. Otherwise: stop complaining.

Making the Bonaventure into a boulevard is a great idea. If only we could demolish the metropolitain and remplace it with a boulevard as well. Dig a tunnel underneath and allow high speed through traffic, but keep the surface as a boulevard for local traffic.
