  1. VOX map, has Toronto show up on the map of the US?
  2. True I am going further and further down the rabbit hole here: yellow line extension, orange line extension, rose line and a few other extensions, we could have something that would rival London and probably would make public transit the best option to get around, for many of us.
  3. What would be cool, is if REM and STM got Google to to create a special Maps for the REM (2023) and the blue line extension (2026) + SRB (2022), so people can see when everything is connected together, how long their commute will be. This will give people an idea, if they should stay where they are and deal with the mess of the REM construction or move to another area.
  4. Luc has lost his touch. I am surprised he hasn't shutdown St Denis between Sherbrooke and Jean Talon to make it only for pedistrians and cyclists. I guess all in good time.
  5. If and when we have a large influx of wealth come into Montreal, maybe just maybe we will see Armani and Prada open up a boutique and that is still not even luxurious enough. When we start seeing stand-alone boutiques of Kiton, Brioni, Brunello Cucinelli, now I know we hit the big leagues.
  6. Quebec should look into creating a Permanent Fund, to pay its citizens, an annual dividend, from hydro electricity. Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Permanent_Fund We probably would not get $1000+ per individual, but at least $100-$250 would be a start.
  7. It is shitty contemporary art that should only be at MAC and not on a bridge.
  8. Any idea when they will publicly unveil what will be built on that piece of land?
  9. Meant to upload them this morning. They have one section of the sidewalk for pedestrians and another section for cyclists. It will be a great neighbourhood when it is completed.
  10. Vision 2025 will be nice, but I don't think the yellow line will be ready, nor the tram. The rest does seem possible and would make living in Longueuil/Brossard much better.
  11. The campus is coming along nicely. I was hoping more of it would be completed, so I didn't have to walk around the perimeter.
  12. Only reason I would like that, it connects pretty much all the universities in the city. It would be one huge education "highway" You idea is also good. Why stop in NDG, get it to Montreal Ouest, true, they already have the train, but give people another option.
  13. Between Sunnybrooke and Bois Franc, they should convert the rail line into a road for the 2 years that it will not be in use. They can have buses going back and forth all day long (1 articulated bus in each direction, every 2 mins during rush hour) and the bus can either go to Cote Vertu or Du Ruisseau (when that portion of the REM is up and running). It isn't rocket science, it wouldn't remove a lane from the road. O/T: I honestly wish the city planning was better thought up 50+ years ago. Soon enough they will need to find a way to add rail lines on the south side (Hudson to Montreal), having it run parallel to the lines already there, even though there isn't much space. Same goes for all the other lines that share the rail with CN/CP.
  14. I still say if they extend the yellow line into Montreal, it should connect to McGill and after UdM. Also extend it all the way to St Hubert airport, if and when the airport will be used for International/National flights with Jetlines and other future airlines. All in all, more metro lines, the better.

    Autoroute 35

Things in 3rd world countries get built faster and probably cost the same amount (excluding viability tests), because 3rd world nations, just make people disappear if they block or oppose the project.
  16. Speed is one factor. A major factor is people running a red light (straight or turning right), not stopping at stop signs; this happens every day in front of my house, the city would make a killing catching people, people who also turn left when they are not suppose to, people doing U turns when they are not suppose to, and people who do not signal. Camera every section of road in the city. People may think twice before doing something stupid and probably enough people would get caught and would lose their license.
  17. Amen to that. That is big brother for you or should I say big sister. I do think if this was built on the Montreal side, Montreal would be happy that they would get money. 2 more years until the next Montreal election and VP might be shown the door. One thing is for sure, if/when this does go up the government of Quebec will be forced to work on fixing the met, which will cause even more headache.
  18. We need to find a way to entice people to leave the US to come to Canada and make Canada the first choice for people to come for their degrees. If Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa can drain 10% from each of the cities on the CBRE list, we could probably be #1, #2 and #3. That will probably never happen.
  19. I don't remember if this was posted or not. It shows street level and raised sections. I find the sunnybrooke station should be after the raised section, not before it.
  20. They are almost done taking down one of the buildings as of this morning.
  21. That is news to me. If that is the case, people shouldn't be freaking out.
  22. A friendly reminder, the Deux Montagne line goes dead on January 2022 for 2 years, which is 2 years 10 months away. Hopefully ARTM and the cities get their act together. Article: https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2019/02/25/pourquoi-ca-niaise-sur-la-ligne-de-deux-montagnes Between January 2020 and December 31st, 2021, people will need to get off at Du Ruisseau and find their way to the metro.
