There is 6 at the moment (Atlanta, Cincinnati, New York City FC, New England, Seattle and Vancouver), and Cincinnati's soccer specific stadium is under construction. Also they play in a stadium that they fill out and that is very well suited to soccer. So were down to 5. Before we continue, it's important to understand that back in the MLS 1.0 years, teams were playing in empty NFL stadiums that were not adaptable to soccer. Columbus and then LA Galaxy were the first two teams to solve this issue by building soccer specific stadiums. This solution was then seen as the gold standard for MLS clubs, explaining why people started to measure success with the construction a soccer specific stadium. However, with the growing popularity of MLS, certain clubs have been able to get comfortable in larger NFL stadiums that were built with soccer configuration in mind. For instance, Atlanta's new Mercedes Benz stadium, whilst not being soccer specific, was built with soccer configuration in mind. Plus they fill it game in, game out. That is totally false my friend. Most clubs do have a soccer specific stadium these days. The new expansion sides will have very decent ones at that. They got a basically FREE 40 years emphytéotic lease from RIO and the provincial government forked out more than half of the stadium costs. All in all, it cost them less than 25-30 mil for the stadium. Do you think they wouldve gotten a similar deal downtown? Going to the east end wasnt a mistake if you consider that it was a choice to save up on infrastructure costs.

Certains membres ont beau mettre en contexte les différentes approches possibles pour étudier un projet (économique, urbaniste, écologique (développement durable), même historique) et expliquer pourquoi une mise en commun de ces approches doit être fait pour comprendre l'effet réel d'un projet, certains ne pensent qu'en terme d'investissement et de profit. Bien que cette approche fait parti d'une étude globale du projet, on ne saurait se limiter à celle-ci pour analyser en profondeur le projet. Or, il y a un réel dialogue de sourds entre ceux qui se préoccupent par l'impact (autre qu'économique) du projet, et ceux qui croient que la loi du marché seule sert à balancer les bénéfices et inconvénients.

On vit dans un système où il y a une forte concentration du pouvoir politique (qu'on appellerait même premier-ministériel selon un de mes anciens profs qui travail présentement dans l'administration publique sous la CAQ). Clairement le prolongement à Chambly est une commande politique; c'est à dire qu'elle provient d'une volonté politique plutôt que scientifique. Depuis que l'investissement en TEC est devenu évident et politiquement payant, les élus politiques se sont appropriés les commandes décisionnelles qu'ils avaient pourtant initialement remis à l'ARTM. Tu penses que le MTQ n'a pas changé de direction depuis l'entrée au pouvoir de la CAQ? Et si c'était le PQ, tu crois qu'il agirait exactement pareillement? Soyons sérieux.

Selon moi la ligne Rose/relief line/etc et l'extension à Laval sont les priorités pour assurer la pérennité du réseau métro actuel. La ligne à Chambly est ridiculement électoraliste, et je suis certain que la CDPQ demandera un financement public si le gouvernement de la CAQ veut absolument ce prolongement.

I never said they wont succeed. We all really have to stop reading what we wish others had said. My point was too say that this project, in this form or another, wasnt inevitable as Toxic had claimed. Does it mean it wont succeed? No. Does it mean it cant be a good project? Well, lets hope not.

Ayayayaille. Je ne fais que dire qu'il y a une différence à percevoir entre la DEMANDE réelle, et la DEMANDE artificielle en l'espèce. À moins que je ne me trompe, il n'y a pas d'études démontrant un besoin réel et actuel qui a été fournie par les promoteurs. On vante une nouveauté qui va changé le futur de la ville; un changement de paradigme incroyable et inespéré... Mais y'a aucune étude qui démontre un besoin actuel. Or, l'argument de Toxic c'est de dire : ce centre commercial est INÉVITABLE. S'il ne se construit pas ici, il se construira ailleurs parce qu'il y a un besoin réel et démontrable. C'est à travers cette prémisse qu'il justifie un accroissement de la pollution comme étant un moindre mal parce qu'il serait pire ailleurs. Ce que je fais est demandé de prouver sa prémisse, parce que je ne crois pas qu'elle soit fondée, et ainsi elle ne saurait servir de base pour le reste de son argumentation. Je ne blâme pas quiconque pour quoi que ce soit.

Je crois que tu confonds les concepts de "main invisible" et la loi de l'offre et de la demande. En effet, l'exemple que tu fournis est diamétralement oppposée au concept de la main invisible. Il s'agit ici d'un main visible (le gouvernement provincial) qui joue sur l'attractivité de construire en hauteur (de manière volontaire ou non).

Ils sont confiants d'être en mesure de créer une demande pour leur produit. Ça ne veut pas dire qu'il y a une demande pour un nouveau centre d'achat dans l'état actuel des choses (c'est ce que Toxic avançait) . Nuance.

La demande est là? Permet moi d'en douter. Ceux qui habitent dans ce secteur sont assez proche du CV pour vouloir s'y rendre au lieu de banlieusardiser leur existence. Et les banlieusards, que l'on veut attirer, ont le fairview (qui, gasp, sera aussi accessible en TEC bientôt), le Carrefour Laval ou Rockland au pire des cas. Elle est où la demande? On a besoin d'un aquarium dans ce site spécifiquement? Je ne dis pas que les promoteurs ne vont pas rentabiliser leur projet, c'est fort possible. Mais ils le feront en CRÉANT un besoin. Or, créer des besoins ne s'inscrit pas dans une pensée environnementaliste contemporaine. L'argument qui se résume à dire que ce n'est pas le pire projet ne convainc pas beaucoup quand vient le temps de contredire ceux qui demandent une bonification du projet.

Il a déjà été démontré (par les promoteurs du projet) que ce centre commercial sera majoritairement (et en forte majorité de surcroît) utilisé par des automobilistes. On va se garder une gêne sur l'impact environnementale "positif" de ce projet STP.

@Rocco Primero, comment tu sais à quelle heure a été prise la photo d'Acajou? L'esplanade est ensoleillé jusqu'à midi en ce moment. À partir de juin, considérant la "hauteur" du soleil dans le ciel, celle-ci sera majoritairement ensoleillée jusqu'à 13h. Segundo, il est où le problème de l'ombrage? C'est confortable d'être à l'ombre par de chaudes journées d'été à 14h. Il y a d'autres endroits dans les environs ou tu pourras aller te faire cuire si le coeur t'en chante.

Que de mauvaise foi. L'avis est favorable sur le projet dans son ensemble moyennant certaines améliorations. Ça s'inscrit dans le cours normal des choses. Quasiment tout les projets qui reçoivent un traitement favorable du CCU se font demander des modifications/améliorations. Il faut arrêter de jouer avec les mots. De plus, comment peux-tu être favorable au rejet d'un projet que tu n'as pas vu? Dogmatisme quand tu nous tiens.

Ça doit être le fun tout savoir comme ça... Y'a jamais une fois où tu te dis : "je suis peut-être pas super informé sur le sujet et passer mon tour ne ferait pas de mal cette fois-ci". Mais non, une solution simpliste à tout, tout le temps.
