  1. IMO, if you want stealth don't purchase a car that everyone associates with the fuzz. Maybe grab a police-spec Volvo or a Civic SI like the OPP has...
  2. Now that I read it more, this is exactly what's needed. Rumor has it that since these services are moving out of the old pavilion, the beds there won't be eliminated but rather stay open which means this WILL add beds. I just keep hoping that someone realizes the should use the architect of this and / or the CRCHUM is used for the MUHC because every rendering I see of that thing looks like communist Russia.
  3. So basically, to achieve an environmentally-friendly mandate they destroy a building...and in the process transfer a large amount of waste into a landfill?
  4. Again, do these people not have an effing clue!? From the article: Can anyone say "misappropriation of funds" ?
  5. I hate to ask the obvious but....why are they demoing an almost-new building?
  6. 154 room children's hospital? Am I missing something here or does the current children's hospital not have 156 plus a number of isolation rooms? So basically this facility is forced to do with LESS beds even though the current facility is bursting at its seams...
  7. Did anyone notice who the drawing / rendering was supposedly done for? It's not the HHI group, it's Newport Realty Inc. Doing a bit of digging doesn't turn up their name on any property management, developers or realtor list in Quebec. Basically, they're not even registered here based on the info I have access to. More and more, this is looking like a flight of fancy to me and nothing more.
  8. Makes sense. Considering the area, ANY info about progress will bring out the NIMBYs faster than we can blink...
  9. Good God. You could buy a house in one of the Eastern Provinces for the price of a single parking spot in that place.
  10. I see Panzini is smoking the good stuff again. Especially with a view of San Fransisco out the window...
  11. The reason the Atom is allowed here in Quebec is due to certain provisions in the highway code allowing open-wheeled automobiles on Quebec's roads. It was ammended about five years ago when companies like Campagna started making inroads in the manufacturing sector. Unfortunately, due to emission regulations and our lower grades of fuel, the Atom you can buy will have around 15% - 20% less horsepower than the original.
  12. What's the source for this? Because if we're talking about 2012 completion, this project should already be up for pre-sale at least, no?
  13. I believe both Montreal and Berlin are on their schedule for start in late 2010 for an early 2013 delivery. I could be wrong though but that's what I was told when I stayed at the one in New York a few months ago. What concerns me is the fact that we haven't heard anything from the city who usually loves to pimp these large projects.
  14. These guys have a great marketing team. We received a massive pamphlet for Altitude in our mailbox the other day. Pretty impressive presentation to say the least.
  15. Really odd having those large houses in an area littered with mid and high rises.
  16. This is what they will be doing for Pointe Nord on Nun's Island, no?
  17. It is all because of geography and mentality IMO and not necessarily wealth. If you look at TO, people WANT to live in the city due to the traffic nightmare that exists when trying to get into the city. Here in Montreal, we have traffic but getting in from the million-dollar houses in Brossard, Beaconsfield, etc. isn't nearly as bad getting to downtown Toronto from Oakville, etc.
  18. No to mention their ridiculously fast Telus-provided 100mbps internet connection...
  19. If the demand was indeed that high, they could have easily designed it so every one of those massive properties was divided into two smaller ones with less expensive houses.
  20. I seem to count ~34 floors since the upper Penthouse will have higher than standard ceilings as you can see by the presale renderings.
  21. Looks like the development will be a mix of townhouses, two to three story condo buildings and huge mansions (judging by the terrain sizes). Massive waste of space in a high-demand area IMO.
